GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 2 – M. Hellyer +1kg
Race 5 – D. Smith +0.5kg
 
Race 1: RESI HOMES PTY LTD MAIDEN PLATE         1000 M
 
MUMMIFICATION – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 400m bumped with DARE I SAY which shifted out, again bumped with DARE I SAY after passing the 300m when that horse shifted out.
 
PANTHER POWER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CRYPTO KING – When racing in restricted room approaching the 600m was obliged to steady. Held up from the 500m until leaving the 400m. Jockey W. Peel was fined $400 pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 8 times prior to the 100m, being 3 more than permitted.
 
DARE I SAY – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 400m, shifted out and contacted MUMMIFICATION and after passing the 300m shifted out and became unbalanced after contacting MUMMIFICATION.
 
SHOOT THE BOSS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a poor post-race recovery.
 
Race 2: JACK BRUCE RACING CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1600 M
 
MOSZUR – Raced wide throughout.
 
CAPITEEL – Raced wide until the 1100m.
 
BLUE SWIMMER – Shifted out after the start and inconvenienced CLEARY ADONIS. Over raced after passing the 1200m until leaving the 1100m when restrained to obtain cover.
 
KASEAR – Lost near hind plate.
 
LYNCHED – Slow to begin. Shifted wider from the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
CLEARY ADONIS – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground.
 
Race 3: DICKY BEACH SURF CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M
 
CHIEF BY – Began awkwardly.
 
FAMILY BONDING – Raced wide throughout.
 
IOANE (NZ) – Restrained from a wide barrier to a rearward position closer to the rail. After passing the 1300m, improved quickly and commenced to over race at heels passing the 1200m and was checked from heels passing the 1100m.
 
RUMBLING AWAY – Raced wide until the 800m.
 
HIGH CURRENCY (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
SMASH IT MADDI – Raced wide throughout.
 
BUBBLES 'N' SPEAK – Obliged to alter course near the 300m in order to secure clear running.
 
SUITE SECRET – After passing the 1300m was restrained to obtain cover and was forced to race three wide when IOANE (NZ) improved quickly to the inside of SUITE SECRET. After passing the 1100m, was inconvenienced for a short distance when IOANE (NZ) had commenced to over race, shifted out to avoid heels. Raced wide for the remainder. Lost near hind plate.
 
Race 4: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1100 M
 
AIKAU (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
MISHANI DESTINY – Jockey J. Stanley reported his mount raced greenly for the majority of the event. Stewards questioned Jockey Stanley regarding his riding over the concluding stages as he refrained from pulling the whip and appeared to alter his riding at that point. Jockey Stanley explained that his mount changed stride over the concluding stages and shifted in, obliging him to stop riding and straighten his mount at that stage. Stewards after viewing the patrol footage in the presence of Jockey Stanley accepted his explanation.
 
MISHANI HITMAN– Stewards questioned Jockey S. Collett regarding the tactics in leading today’s event in contrast to the horses recent racing pattern Jockey Collett indicated that she had attempted to settle forward with cover. However, when her mount was racing keenly approaching the 800m and in a three wide position, she elected to allow her horse stride to the lead and obtain a position closer to the fence.
 
ROCKRATA – Raced wide throughout. Forced wider for a short distance approaching the 700m when MISHANI HITMAN shifted wider. Raced wide for the remainder.
 
MISHANI EMPIRE – Slow to begin.
 
MISHANI EXPRESS – Jockey A. Allen reported that his mount having its first start on the poly track did not race comfortably on the surface.
 
VICTORY STATEMENT – Bumped after the start.
 
KENDYACATCHME – Began awkwardly and bumped with VICTORY STATEMENT.
 
INVADING JILLY – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition. Forced wider approaching the 700m when MISHANI HITMAN commenced to shift wider on the track. Raced wide for the remainder.
 
Race 5: CALOUNDRA RSL BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 2000 M
 
TAVISTORM (NZ) – Tightened for room on jumping and had to be steadied when RUDIMENTARY shifted out. Restrained from the heels of ZOUY’S COMET when passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
ROCKED – Bumped on jumping. Passing the winning post on the first occasion raced in restricted room to the inside of RUDIMENTARY and was obliged to steady. Jockey N. Beriman, rider of RUDIMENTARY was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
KOOLATAH (NZ) – Bumped heavily on jumping and became awkwardly.
 
CONTRITION (NZ) – Tightened for room passing the 400m when racing to the inside of MAN OF HEART and to the outside of MANA COMBAT (NZ) which shifted out to improve. Bumped heavily near the 300m when MANA COMBAT (NZ) shifted out.
 
HEREDITARY (NZ) – Shifted in on jumping and bumped KOOLATAH (NZ). Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to the lead passing the 1000m.
 
MAN OF HEART – Slow into stride. Laid in under pressure from leaving the 500m onwards.
 
MANA COMBAT (NZ) – Shifted wider near the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards. Approaching the 300m, momentarily tightened for room between KOOLATAH (NZ) which shifted out and MAN OF HEART which shifted in. After passing the 300m, shifted out when struck with the whip and made heavy contact with CONTRITION.
 
IRIDESSA (NZ) – Over raced and improved onto heels near the 1300m before shifting wider on the track and racing wide from that point onwards.
 
ZOUY'S COMET – Began awkwardly and bumped ROCKED.
 
Race 6: SYMONS LAXON RACING BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
NIGHTSTICK – Shifted in on jumping and heavily bumped with DANTE ALIGHIERI.
 
BAMBALAM – Raced wide throughout. Jockey W. Peel reported her mount had a tendency to lay out throughout the event and further added that in her opinion the horse may have come to the end of its preparation.
 
JOVIAL KID – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide early before being ridden to a position outside the lead passing the 1000m.
 
DANTE ALIGHIERI – Bumped heavily after the start.
 
WASSA – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 7: VALE HARRY REED BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1100 M
 
SERIGALA – Raced wide throughout.
 
GALAXY GENERAL – Jockey B. Thornton reported at scale that his mount put in an awkward stride after the post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MR VISTA – Raced wide throughout.
 
TOW THE LINE – Raced wide throughout.
 
MAXIE TAP (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
JUNGLE FEVER – Raced wide throughout.
 
SPIRIT OF BRODIE – Began awkwardly. Passing the 800m over raced at heels for a short distance. Raced wide throughout.
 
BETTER LAD – Improved onto heels passing the 500m and remained awkwardly placed at heels before being steadied and shifting wider near the 400m into clear running.
 
JAFUBOY – Shifted out on jumping and bumped BABU KING.
 
BABU KING – Bumped on jumping. Trainer T. Haydon was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time.
 
CAPITAL MEG – Raced wide throughout.
 
HELL OF A PRINCE – Raced wide throughout.
