PROMINENT owner Kevin Seymour hopes his fortunes can reverse at Albion Park tomorrow night.
Seymour will contest the South East Derby with star local, Colt Thirty One, which is among the favourites in the Group Three.
Given the events of yesterday’s Dalby gallops meeting, Seymour isn’t as confident as he would like to be with the Grant Dixon-trained son of Mach Three.
“I had a runner at Dalby yesterday, which finished down the track,” Seymour said. “I then sold him before the day was over.
“I need a turn around in luck from that result before Saturday night.”
With Colt Thirty One in scintillating form and drawn well, Seymour should have little reason for concern.
Winner of his last five starts, the colt overcame the second row to easily beat his older rivals in last weekend’s Premiers’ Cup.
Earlier this season the Australian Pacing Gold eligible youngster upstaged some of Australasia’s best three-year-olds in the Victoria Derby.
“This will be a step up on what he has been racing recently,” Seymour said. “It’s a pretty strong field with some classy southern horses coming into it.
“He’s drawn barrier four, which will hopefully see him settle in a good position early.”
Seymour rates Victorian raider Duplicated as the one to beat for trainer Dean Braun.
Unbeaten from three Australian starts, Duplicated has drawn gate three.
