He said approaching the 700m when trailing Liberal Lady, when that runner commenced to weaken he was obliged to shift to its outside and make a wide run making the home turn.

Also stated that her mount was held up on heels between the 600m and entrance to the straight and consequently could not work into a sprint. She stated that by the time her mount obtained clear running at the entrance to the straight the leaders had pinched a break and it was unable to taken any significant ground off them. A post race vet of the gelding revealed it to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer was advised that the gelding requires a vet cert of fitness
