RACE ONE

Completing a threepeat and remaining undefeated in Qld with a career PB last start THE HIGH COMMANDER (3) looks to have drawn the gate to go again. Releasing the speed last week, he eased to the outside in the stretch and powered away to take a 9m margin. The same speed pressure does not look set to eventuate here and he can look to take them all the way for the quartet.

AWAYWEGO (10) tackled the 3YO colts and geldings Triad Final last start at G1 level when slammed with this same alley. Finding the task too tricky in defending his 2YO crown in the Series, he entered that battle in strong form with successive wins at the 2138m trip. Despite the tough gate, he can throw it down.

HIPSTAR (7) continues to build in his comeback from two years off the scene, his latest appearance when having his fourth run back. Sent forward from gate 7 to sit parked last start and grafting out a gritty 2nd in a sub 53 mile, he looks set to be working again.

BOTTLE ROCK (1) started from this same alley last start and was soon bottled away three back. Finding some space, he was able to grab the silver behind THE HIGH COMMANDER and will be searching for space again.

SELECTIONS: THE HIGH COMMANDER (3), AWAYWEGO (10), HIPSTAR (7), BOTTLE ROCK (1)
SUGGESTED BET: THE HIGH COMMANDER (3) to win

RACE TWO

Factors have not been in the favour of SLICK SOPHIE (2) in her three runs since claiming victory here four starts back. That was in a mare’s qualifier where she was able to lead throughout from this same gate. Slammed with the outside front line at her next appearance, she was off the second line last start when trying to chase LOVE YOUR WORK. Back to this gate is a huge advantage.

MISTER DIAMOND (5) finished near the rear of the pack last time out after sitting parked over the mile from this same gate. That was as THE HIGH COMMANDER dictated to claim a 53 flat victory in front. Buried two back as SAGINAW arrived, limiting the burn can see him make a challenge.

REGULUS (8) did not have anything go his way last start when forced to retreat from gate 4 and from back in the pack the tempo was against him as LOVE YOUR WORK dictated. He is going better than his numbers suggest and will be probing for openings.

BE MY ROCK (6) has been freshened since his last appearance where he trailed the field home at Redcliffe over the 2040m. Buried away the start prior, a solid tempo will aid his chances as he tries to wind up over the closing stages.

SELECTIONS: SLICK SOPHIE (2), MISTER DIAMOND (5), REGULUS (8), BE MY ROCK (6)
SUGGESTED BET: SLICK SOPHIE (2) to win

RACE THREE

SOHO SINATRA (5)
has now been to the track on three occasions since resuming from a spell with the conditions of this race looking favourable. Down the line after retreating behind the star LEAP TO FAME last start, his run two back was full of merit behind MAKE MINE MEMPHIS. This looks his chance to capitalise.

OUR BONDI BEACH (2) loves the fence and moving down to gate 1 provides his preferred pattern. Forced to retreat from gate 3 last time out, he was always facing a task as UNCLE SHANK put them to the sword from the front. 3rd to ONE BIG SHEW two starts back, he will be searching for the lane.

HANDSOME HERO (8) should appreciate a nice economical trip against the markers here and be searching for the openings. Snagged to the rear here on Tuesday, he was against the tempo but can probe in this.

THE SHADY ONE (4) ended a win drought here tow starts back when securing the trail from gate 1 and then darting through along the passing lane. Chasing ONE BIG SHEW last start, he can join in.

SELECTIONS: SOHO SINATRA (5), OUR BONDI BEACH (2), HANDSOME HERO (8), THE SHADY ONE (4)
SUGGESTED BET: SOHO SINATRA (5) to win

RACE FOUR

Strong to the line last start at Redcliffe, AYE AYE CAPTAIN (1) looks set to enjoy the mapping advantage from this gate for this battle. Wider off the track last start when 5m astern of the winner, he found them out of reach two starts back at the mile. This looks his chance to bounce back to winning form.

IM LOKI (2) likes to roll in front but can be susceptible in the closing stages when he gets keen. A winner here three starts back when the chasers could not reel him in, the inside second line was his undoing at his next appearance. Collared at Redcliffe last start, he will be trying to fight them off.

NONE GRATER (8) will take benefit from his latest outing where he was first up from a spell after returning to the Narissa McMullen yard. Sent forward to sit parked, he peaked late and can enjoy a cosy trip behind the action.

GABBYS IDEAL (9) features in a stable switch, joining the David Russell barn. A winner here three starts back when eased from gate 5 before powering home over the top to score, she can be joining in.

SELECTIONS: AYE AYE CAPTAIN (1), IM LOKI (2), NONE GRATER (8), GABBYS IDEAL (9)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-8-9

RACE FIVE

Starting to work his way towards another victory, ROLLONX (5) might just have secured the conditions to capitalise. From the second line at The Triangle last start, he was strong to the line to be just a neck astern of the winner. Placed his past 4, he can settle forward to make his play.

SPRINGFIELD SPIRIT (2) secured the pocket trail last start from gate 1 and with the cosy trip was within 2m of the winner in holding 2nd. Luckless the start prior from the second line at Redcliffe when searching for the gaps, he can look to find the poles first to throw down his challenge.

DOOLITTLE DEXTER (6) is hitting some good areas at present, with three wins and two minors in his past five. Wide off the track in the closing stages at Redcliffe last start, he can be joining in here.

MISTER WOODPORT (3) has hit the board at his past 4, the latest when hemmed away three back and finding the space to be 6m away in 3rd. Closing hard the start prior, he can be handy to feature.

SELECTIONS: ROLLONX (5), SPRINGFIELD SPIRIT (2), DOOLITTLE DEXTER (6), MISTER WOODPORT (3)
SUGGESTED BET: ROLLONX (5) to win

RACE SIX

Luckless last start from inside the second line, HES PERFECTLY IDEAL (4) was searching for the gaps and made a late raid to be within 2m of the winner BRIDGE COIN. Pressing on to take control from this same alley two starts back and fighting them off for an all the way win, he can look to repeat.

VINDICATE (7) made the most of conditions last start from gate 4 when spearing out to lead and once in control at the mile was never headed. Holding on for a 2m margin, it followed a 3rd when gunned down over the 2138m trip. Despite the wide gate she is up to the challenge.

WHOSTOLEMYPIGEON (6) has been runner-up at his past two appearances, the latest when beaten a head despite a chequered passage. A half-neck in arrears the start prior, he can be making a play.

BONNIE GROVE (1) should appreciate the improved gate after finishing down the line in both Qld starts to date. Fading first up behind FUTURE ASSURED, she was wide at Redcliffe last start. An inside trip can help.

SELECTIONS: HES PERFECTLY IDEAL (4), VINDICATE (7), WHOSTOLEMYPIGEON (6), BONNIE GROVE (1)
SUGGESTED BET:  HES PERFECTLY IDEAL (4) to win
