Racing Queensland (RQ) today confirms date changes to Queensland Derby, Bogie Leigh Futurity, Golden Oldies and Golden Sands, all of which are major events within the forthcoming Golden Greys Summer Carnival.

The Group 2 Queensland Derby and Group 2 Bogie Leigh Futurity were initially scheduled for Thursday, December 8, 2022 (heats) and Thursday, December 15, 2022 (finals). Both events have now been rescheduled to Thursday, December 29, 2022 (heats) and January 5, 2023 (finals).

The eligibility conditions for the male only Derby and female only Futurity remain unchanged, being open to greyhounds whelped on or after June 1, 2020.

The new dates for the Derby and Futurity ensure both events avoid a heavily congested period in the national Group calendar in early December with the recent announcement of the Silver Chief being re-positioned as a lead up event for The Phoenix at The Meadows.

To support the Derby and Futurity date changes, heats of the Group 2 Golden Sands (600m) have been moved from Thursday, December 29, 2022 to Wednesday, December 28, 2022. The final of the Golden Sands remains on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Finally, the heats of the Golden Oldies (Masters 5th Grade 520m) have been moved from Thursday, December 29, 2022, to Wednesday, January 25, 2023. The Final will now be on Thursday, February 2, 2023.

A full calendar with events, dates, and prizemoney, for the upcoming Golden Greys Summer Carnival will be released in coming weeks.
