Former Brisbane television and radio presenter Chris Bombolas has joined The Creek ‘stable’, taking up a newly-created contract role as Chief Operating Officer of the Albion Park Harness Racing Club.

APHRC Chairman Brad Steele said the club was thrilled to welcome such a seasoned campaigner to the family.

“Chris has a long and respected connection with sport and racing and is particularly passionate about harness,” Steele said.

“He has great connections in government, the corporate world and racing, complimented by extensive media experience.

“At one stage, Bombolas was in our lounge rooms delivering the sports news or calling Broncos games – now he’s pulling the reins on a different horse, the standardbred.”

With a busy 12 to 18 months ahead, Bombolas’ priority will be harnessing his energies and talents on Queensland’s new pacing precinct.

“With the countdown on for the 2032 Olympics, we’ve got to find a new home as soon as possible,” Bombolas said.

“That’s a Racing Queensland priority, a board priority and a club priority – so let’s get the whips cracking and get it done.”

"It is an exciting period for "The Creek".

"Besides finding a new home, the club is keen to again take the TAB Constellations up another notch.

“Of course, we’re also excited about hosting the Inter Dominion after a 13 year hiatus.

"We want the best pacers and trotters from across Australia and ‘the ditch’ contesting a series for the ages.”
