The Bundaberg Greyhound Racing Club track modification works continue to progress on schedule with all construction works expected to be completed during December 2022.

The scope of works at Bundaberg includes a complete replacement of the racetrack surface, running rail, turf and irrigation system. A new starting position (315m) is also being installed and the 550m start is being repositioned to 531m.

In addition, the judging tower is being replaced. The new tower will house the judge, race caller, race vision provider, steward and lure driver.

All construction and civil works are tracking to forecast timelines. Contractors are confident, short of an exceptional weather event, that the track grass surface will be laid prior to Christmas 2022 and that tower construction will be finalised to a similar timeline.

A consolidation period enabling root system establishment for several weeks will then apply with trialling, at this stage, expected to commence in January 2023.

The Rockhampton Greyhound Racing Club will continue to pick up additional dates during December and January as a consequence of both the Bundaberg track modifications and the closure of the Townsville Showground for two weeks in early January 2023.

Full details regarding December and January race dates can be found on the RQ website here.

Animal care, racing and travel subsidies currently being provided to Bundaberg based trainers will continue to be provided until trials recommence at the Bundaberg greyhound track.
