RACE ONE

Making his race debut last week when finishing in 3rd place, there was enough about the effort of KHULAN KID (2) to suggest he can open his account here. Asked to sit parked, he grafted it out and never shirked the task when under 2m from the winner. A gate advantage can see him capitalise.

NINETEENTHIRTYFOUR (4) started in red figures last week and after being exposed through the opening 600m, worked to the front. Trying to grip on up the stretch, she had to settle for the silver behind SARASUN. The added race experience will aid her challenging chances.

TIN AMBER MINE (1) retreated from gate 4 last start and from back in the pack was unable to get warm over the closing stages. The chance to settle behind the speed here aids his chances.

CROSS WALK (3) was having his second career start last time out when eased from a wide gate to find the pegs and look for short cuts. Grabbing 3rd, albeit 18m from the winner, he can feature again.

SELECTIONS: KHULAN KID (2), NINETEENTHIRTYFOUR (4), TIN AMBER MINE (1), CROSS WALK (3)
SUGGESTED BET: KHULAN KID (2) to win

RACE TWO

Still chasing the maiden breaking win, conditions look right for MARLEY NOVA (4) to open the account. The bridesmaid at her past three attempts, the latest she found the front over the mobile mile but was just collared in the closing strides. A safe beginner, this might just be the day.

BANFF (3) stepped straight to the front last time and controlling the tempo was able to see it out and score career win number 2. Locked away against the poles two back in a mobile start event from gate 5, he is back to the 20m impost here but is going well enough to issue the challenge.

HAMMER SON (8) has bene a model of consistency in recent weeks, placing in five his past six. Making good metres in the closing stages last start behind BANFF to grab 3rd, he can be joining in.

SET ME FREE (5) started from the 20m tape last time and was out of the 1x1 trail and trying to make a closing challenge when finishing 5m from the winner. With the right trip she can feature again.

SELECTIONS: MARLEY NOVA (4), BANFF (3), HAMMER SON (8), SET ME FREE (5)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE THREE

On the back-up from Saturday night where he tackled the Lord Mayors Cup, BITCOIN (7) has the wide gate to negotiate, but he looks to hold the class edge. Despite finishing down the line on Saturday night, his own splits were super at 54.09 and 26.87. Just the 8 runners is a benefit.

ROLLYARRRZ (1) was first up in Qld last start where he was back in the field from outside the second line before catching the eye in how he attacked the line over the closing stages. Finishing 1m in arrears of the winner, he faces a big leap in class here but has the benefit of the inside alley.

PARAMA (8) eased from gate 5 last start and from back in the pack was hitting the line in nice order to be under 4m from the winner ANOTHER STATEMENT. An economical trip helps his podium hopes.

BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (6) was a Saturday night winner three runs back when finding the pocket trail and finishing best to claim a 3m margin. Wide gates have stung in both since and gets her again.

SELECTIONS: BITCOIN (7), ROLLYARRRZ (1), PARAMA (8), BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (6)
SUGGESTED BET: BITCOIN (7) to win

RACE FOUR

With the second line options courtesy of being the only runner off the back line, SWAGGIE SHANNON (8) looks to have found optimal conditions here at the 2138m trip. From gate 10 last time, he was wide and trying to launch when a head away from the winner. This is withing reach.

ITS MR CLOONEY (3) backs up from Saturday night where he is run was full of merit behind ROCK BOTTOM after retreating early from gate 6 before making good closing ground. Wide off the track two back when 2nd to MAJORDOIT, he has the gate, but his middle trip record is a big query.

MOHS EM DOWN (5) has good speed out of the start car and can fire across for an early look and might just create drop in space. Fading after sitting parked last start, he has podium claims in this.

OUR MAJOR DAY (7) fired off the arm from gate 4 here two starts back and from the front was able to see it out with a 1m margin in smart time. The wide gate makes the tough tougher here.

SELECTIONS: SWAGGIE SHANNON (8), ITS MR CLOONEY (3), MOHS EM DOWN (5), OUR MAJOR DAY (7)
SUGGESTED BET: SWAGGIE SHANNON (8) to win

RACE FIVE

After a pair of more than respectable outings since resuming from a spell, BLUE BLOODZ (8) should get the ideal set up here to chase down victory. From this gate last start over the 2138m, he was shuffled back in the run which followed a tidy first up effort. He can stalk the speed.

BEACH ON FIRE (2) should appreciate moving into gate 1 and can burrow through to protect the inside running. A winner here four starts back when powering home over the top, he darted through last start from back in the pack to be just a head off the winner.

RANCHO MAN (4) has been sectionally strong in recent outings but unable to gain any reward for his efforts. Wide off the track last start at Marburg from the second line, he is a podium hope here.

BONZA GUY (10) has been runner-up in two starts since re-joining the Ben Battle stable, the latest when 2m in arrears of the winner ACE LOMBO. The gate does him no favours here.

SELECTIONS: BLUE BLOODZ (8), BEACH ON FIRE (2), RANCHO MAN (4), BONZA GUY (10)
SUGGESTED BET: BLUE BLOODZ (8) to win

RACE SIX

The early stages of this race will be interesting with ACE LOMBO (1) still fine tuning his craft and having never drawn the inside marble before. Able to graft it out from the chair last start, if he can muster through to hold them out, he should be able to see it out. The first 200m is all important.

ITS SUPER EASY (2) will be improved following two runs back from a spell and has the gate to fire some early bullets in this battle. Buried from the ace last start as SWEDISH STARLET shook free to score, a return to the mile will help his chances to challenge.

SOME GIRLS DONT (9) was taken off the arm from gate 4 in her first Qld appearance and from deep in the pack finished midfield. Sent to the front last start from gate 4, she won in red figures. The second line makes it tough.

SHEREACTS (4) was a Marburg winner three starts back when finding space to get out of a pocket and arrive. Strong to the line at her next start, she can do some work if required to make a play.

SELECTIONS: ACE LOMBO (1), ITS SUPER EASY (2), SOME GIRLS DONT (9), SHEREACTS (4)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SEVEN

It has been over 12-months since he last tasted victory and from 14 outings this season, IN CHEVRON WE TRUST (1) has placed just twice. But the conditions might finally be in his favour here after some wide gates in recent times and with all the options on offer to bounce back into winning form.

CAPTAIN BRAVEHEART (7) ended his own chances before they had even started last time out at Marburg when unable to fulfil his starting position and giving the field over 50m when the green light came on. He can get across them early here and find the spot where he is at his best.

SISTA BLISS (10) continued on with it last time out when tackling the 2138m for the first time and once in control was fighting hard to hold 2nd behind SWEDISH STARLET. She can make a closing play.

NO MOTIVE (2) is first up for the State’s leading trainer Jack Butler and arrives with three wins to her name. Last seen back in early November, she stays under watch from this alley.

SELECTIONS: IN CHEVRON WE TRUST (1), CAPTAIN BRAVEHEART (7), SISTA BLISS (10), NO MOTIVE (2)
SUGGESTED BET: IN CHEVRON WE TRUST (1) to win

RACE EIGHT

Responsible for a large effort to score here three starts back, HEAVEN IN LOCKSLEY (2) sat parked and was able to grind it out. Not suited in a 4-day back-up, he led them nearly throughout last time, with ANOTHER STATEMENT pinching a half-neck margin up the passing lane. He can see it out.

BRIGADIERS SON (5) has placed at his past three in succession, the latest when trying to take them all the way in a 70Final. After blazing forward from gate 6 to lead in a 27.5 opening panel, he was collared in the last stride by TARGARYEN. Positioning cheaply will be vital to his challenging chances.

REGULUS (1) was asked to sit parked last start and was in for the fight when only collared in the last stride, finishing a half-head off the winner. The economical trip here should suit.

ITZ CHEROKEE JACK (9) pressed on with it from gate 6 last start to find the front but was out of bullets to trail the field home, albeit 11m away. With the right press through early, he can feature.

SELECTIONS: HEAVEN IN LOCKSLEY (2), BRIGADIERS SON (5), REGULUS (1), ITZ CHEROKEE JACK (9)
SUGGESTED BET: HEAVEN IN LOCKSLEY (2) to win
