RACE ONE

After three runs back this campaign and the benefit of getting some race miles in the legs, this race looks suitable for HOLZARTZE VEDAQUAIS (7) to step up. With excellent manners from the tapes, he found the trail last start from the 20m and the rise out to 13 furlongs looks ideal.

EYRE I GO (2) has been safely away at his past two starts which gives confidence that his starting manners have improved. Leading them deep into the stretch last start, he was collared up the passing lane by COCHY MALC and with the front-line benefits will be throwing it down again.

COCHY MALC (8) stuck to the inside here last week and never went around a runner from the 20m impost to land the prize up the passing lane. Added fitness helps, the added 10m not so much.

RILEY MOMENT (4) returns from a spell, with her last appearance when asked to sit parked over the 2138 and fading over the closing stages. A two-time winner over the long trip, she is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: HOLZARTZE VEDAQUAIS (7), EYRE I GO (2), COCHY MALC (8), RILEY MOMENT (4)
SUGGESTED BET: HOLZARTZE VEDAQUAIS (7) to win

RACE TWO

After being sent out as the fav at her first appearance here against her own age, IGNITE THE FIRE (2) was looming ominously only to lose her way when racing greenly and then end her chances. Saved for one shot and closing out smartly against older horses at Redcliffe last time, she can repeat.

SHELEFTALOTOFBLING (1) has raced on three occasions now and is pressing towards opening her account. Eased to the poles last start from gate 4, she was making some late metres for 3rd after leading almost throughout here two back. From this gate, she will be gripping on.

DRAGON (3) is an Art Major colt on debut for Darrel Graham that did everything right in a recent qualifying trial. That effort had merit behind older horses in sharp time and he stays under watch.

SELECTIONS: IGNITE THE FIRE (2), SHELEFTALOTOFBLING (1), DRAGON (3)
SUGGESTED BET: IGNITE THE FIRE (2) to win

RACE THREE

Transferring stables owing to a sale at the completion of his 2YO term, HOLD MY HAT DOUG (1) lines up here for the Tim Butt stable for the first time. Winning one and finishing as the runner-up in five other appearances, he has trialled smartly in readiness for the return and the 20m lift is a big plus.

OONSKADE (6) has placed in all three starts through January and can close out the month with another prominent finish here. Making a late raid when claiming the silver behind QUERENCIA here last week, it followed a 3m deficit behind SET ME FREE. With the right trip she can challenge again.

SHEZA CHANCE (12) was out of the back and finishing off in nice order last start when 8m from the winner. A similar margin away two back, she can again be thereabouts.

HAMMER SON (11) was locked away on the poles last start and was trying to make closing metres when 10m from the winner. Runner-up his previous three in succession, he can feature again here.

SELECTIONS: HOLD MY HAT DOUG (1), OONSKADE (6), SHEZA CHANCE (12), HAMMER SON (11)
SUGGESTED BET: HOLD MY HAT DOUG (1) to win

RACE FOUR

After two runs back into his 4YO term, the conditions look ideal for TORQUE TOTHE MUSIC (1) to hit the right notes here. Strong to the line when resuming from gate 6 and only a head from the winner, he was again beaten by the barrier from 7 when second up. He looks to get every chance.

IMA BEACH BABE (2) was a winner in a mare’s qualifier here four runs back when finding the front before releasing and then finishing best. Her three runs since have had little to recommend, but with a freshen prior to her last start, she can be tightened and aided by the improved gate.

ONLY ONCE BITTEN (6) is stung by the wide gate here but will be looking to slide across the back early and be making a late raid. Chasing home behind CHEETAH LODGE last start, she can chime in.

BEEF CITY BLAZE (5) is at his best when tucked away against the poles and making a closing challenge, so this gate is not ideal. But if he can position cheaply, he can be running into the minors.

SELECTIONS: TORQUE TOTHE MUSIC (1), IMA BEACH BABE (2), ONLY ONCE BITTEN (6), BEEF CITY BLAZE (5)
SUGGESTED BET: TORQUE TOTHE MUSIC (1) to win

RACE FIVE

Hitting some nice areas since arriving with the Ben Battle stable, AWAYOVERNIGHT (9) might just have found the right set up to claim his first win here at HQ. Buried last start from inside the second line, he was a little one paced on the passing lane. With outside space, this looks within reach.

MISTER WOODPORT (10) has been threatening to breakthrough for 2023 after finishing as the runner-up in four of his five appearances. Chasing home from the second line last start for the silver behind SHEZ GOT BLING, he can again be making the closing challenge here.

SARASUN (7) was facing too big a task two starts back against the tempo behind BACK TO BETOOTA and then last start made an error to cop the ODM embargo. The wide gate makes the task difficult.

JUST ONE GOOD ONE (8) landed in the perfect spot here on Friday and owned superior closing speed to charge over the top to a 3m margin. Likely buried, he will be probing for openings.

SELECTIONS: AWAYOVERNIGHT (9), MISTER WOODPORT (10), SARASUN (7), JUST ONE GOOD ONE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: AWAYOVERNIGHT (9) to win

RACE SIX

Placed in three of his past four starts in stronger company than he squares off against here, THE HIGH COMMANDER (4) looks to have found the race to return to some winning form. 3rd to THREE RIVERS last start over this trip, he was fresh up off a 2nd when beaten a blister behind BONNIE PRINCE LOUIS. The distance asks some questions, he can answer them this time.

STOMPEM (1) backs up from the 70Final on Saturday night where KANYE CRUSADER was dealing in front. Making some late metres to be 5m in arrears of the winner LANOCH BOY here two starts back, he will secure the cosy trip and be ready to issue a passing lane play.

YEP GOT CHOOKS (8) has the second line options as the sole runner out the back and might be looking for the running line. Chasing behind THREE RIVERS at his past two starts, he is in the mix.

IDEAL TIGER (2) comes out of the same 70Final on Saturday where he was midfield after making some inside metres in the closing stages. 3rd to BETTERTHAN POPSY two back, he has podium claims.

SELECTIONS: THE HIGH COMMANDER (4), STOMPEM (1), YEP GOT CHOOKS (8), IDEAL TIGER (2)
SUGGESTED BET:  THE HIGH COMMANDER (4) to win

RACE SEVEN

Placed at her past three in succession, this looks the right set up for MIKI MAGIC (3) to get on the board for her 3YO term. 5m from the smart BOLD MEDLEY JUJON last start, it followed a close-up 2nd behind ISNTTHATRIGHT. Taking advantage of her early hustle, she can capitalise in this line up.

ISNTTHATRIGHT (7) worked forward to chase a prominent position last start when finishing 7m in arrears of the winner LEANDER. Hitting the board at his previous nine in succession on this deck which includes five wins, he can again be challenging in this.

REGAL NIGHTSHADE (5) was a winner here two starts back when sent to the front and able to fight them off in claiming a 3m margin. Snagged back last start, he can get forward to feature.

PEBBLE SANDS (9) will be second up from a spell after resuming when midfield behind subsequent winner WHOSTOLEMYPIGEON. Trailing through early, he can chase a minor.

SELECTIONS: MIKI MAGIC (3), ISNTTHATRIGHT (7), REGAL NIGHTSHADE (5), PEBBLE SANDS (9)
SUGGESTED BET: MIKI MAGIC (3) to win

RACE EIGHT

After two runs back from a spell, EVERYTHING HAPPENS (2) looks to secure the right set up here to cash in.  Chasing home for 3rd behind CHAINLINC when resuming, he was strong to the line last start behind CHEETAH LODGE. Holding a handy spot where there looks some tempo, he can descend.

SISTA BLISS (5) resumes from a let up after her last appearance six weeks back. A beaten red figure fav on that occasion when runner-up to NO MOTIVE, she has one win and five minors in her seven career outings and can throw down a challenge here fresh up.

MAYWYN TROUBADOR (4) has good hustle off the arm and can be firing some early bullets from this gate. Not suited last start from gate 6 when retreating, he will be tightened from last start.

QUICK STEP (1) had the early hustle before releasing at Redcliffe two starts back and then had the closing speed to pull clear to a 6m margin. She has the options again here to feature.

SELECTIONS:  EVERYTHING HAPPENS (2), SISTA BLISS (5), MAYWYN TROUBADOR (4), QUICK STEP (1)
SUGGESTED BET: EVERYTHING HAPPENS (2) to win

RACE NINE

Doing a super job in recent weeks, LE TISSIER (7) started from this same gate last time out at the mile and rolled forward to sit parked when grafting  out a gritty 2nd to BONNIE PRINCE LOUIS. A winner at his previous three in succession, he can bounce back to winning form here.

COMMODORE JUJON (5) takes his first look at Veteran’s company and finds a front line where he might just be able to slide across early to find a position handy to the action. Under 8m from the winner TARGARYEN last start, he is fresh up here but can make an impression.

JONAH JONES (2) is on the back-up from Saturday night where he owned the closing speed to arrive over the top and claim a narrow margin. Settling handy, he can be featuring again here.

ROCKNROLL CLASSIC (6) faced the second line last start when trying to launch a closing raid and finishing within 2m of the winner in grabbing 2nd. The gate dents his chances here.

SELECTIONS: LE TISSIER (7), COMMODORE JUJON (5), JONAH JONES (2), ROCKNROLL CLASSIC (6)
SUGGESTED BET: LE TISSIER (7) to win

RACE TEN

Returning to the main draw after two runs on the ODM embargo, the marble has fallen favourably for BRONSKI DELIGHT (1) to chase her first win of the season. Putting a huge scare into the talented BOLD MEDLEY JUJON last week when getting past him down the back stretch only for him to fight back to a half-neck margin, she can cash in here.

FORGIVE ME (5) capitalised from the inside gate at Redcliffe last start, burrowing through to hold the front, a position where she remained until reaching the wire 2m in advance of her nearest rival. Placed in both prior starts, she can be trying to mount a challenge.

BRAEVIEW FELLA (8) looks set to enjoy a soft trip here and can be ready to offer the closing challenge when the gaps arrive.
JET FORCE (6) was a win sandwiched between a pair of 2nds, that win coming when descending on them at Redcliffe. Best of the chasers here last week behind BLUE SHARD, he can be chiming in.

SELECTIONS: BRONSKI DELIGHT (1), FORGIVE ME (5), BRAEVIEW FELLA (8), JET FORCE (6)
SUGGESTED BET:
