RACE ONE

After a safe start from the 10m tape last time out, RILEY MOMENT (1) went close to getting across but dropped into the trail on NORTIE NORTIE. Stalking that leader throughout, it developed into a turn and burn and she went within a head of victory. Burrowing through to lead, she can capitalise.

NORTIE NORTIE (3) stepped cleanly last week from the 10m tape and able to repel them early then took them all the way through a 57.1 closing 800. Fading after a tough trip first over at the 13 furlongs the start prior, he can be near the action to issue the challenge once again.

MATATOKI (4) was making some late metres last start when 7m in arrears of the winner NORTIE NORTIE. A safe beginner from the tapes, he moves forward to 10m this time which is a big help.

JACCKA WATCH (2) was a winner here two starts back when releasing and then making the passing lane shot a winning one. 3rd to NORTIE NORTIE last week, he can duck down for the soft trip.

SELECTIONS: RILEY MOMENT (1), NORTIE NORTIE (3), MATATOKI (4), JACCKA WATCH (2)
SUGGESTED BET: RILEY MOMENT (1) to win

RACE TWO

After two runs back from a spell where he has been the runner-up on both occasions, can it be third time lucky for HOLD MY HAT DOUG (1) since joining the Tim Butt stable. Stepping and releasing when first up and finishing 2m away, he tried to take them all the way last time. This time!

EVERYSECONDCOUNTS (11) was a winner against basically the same opposition last week from the 40m tape and powering over the top in the closing stages to take a 5m margin. A solid 2nd the start prior from the mobile behind KAR MANOR, she moves back another 10 here but can throw it down.

MARLEY NOVA (5) is still a maiden chasing that elusive account opener and last week from the fence was able to chime in for the bronze. A similar trip can see her thereabouts once again.

OONSKADE (6) did not have much go her way last week when hitting dead ends and locking wheels yet was still just 8m in arrears. With a clearer passage she can feature.

SELECTIONS: HOLD MY HAT DOUG (1), EVERYSECONDCOUNTS (11), MARLEY NOVA (5), OONSKADE (6)
SUGGESTED BET: HOLD MY HAT DOUG (1) to win

RACE THREE

Shooting for a hat-trick of race victories, BORELLA (2) holds the gate advantage in this race that looks a genuine two-horse shoot-out. With three trials since his last race appearance where he stepped up to 2138m with ease for the first time, the latest trial was sharp and his class can shine.

ARODA (4) started at $1.35 last start from inside the second line and his supporters were left gripping the rosary beads but unfortunately no miracles were delivered when beaten 3m. An effortless first up winner back in December, he is the only threat to BORELLA, if there is one at all.

EXCITING TIMES (3) chased home smartly for the bronze behind FRAYA last start, running that winner to a neck margin. 3m away the start prior, she is a trifecta filler.

BEE GEES BEST (5) forced the issue from gate 4 last start to get forward but could not go on with it in the closing stages when fading. Limiting the early burn will be key to his exotic hopes.

SELECTIONS: BORELLA (2), ARODA (4), EXCITING TIMES (3), BEE GEES BEST (5)
SUGGESTED BET: Flexi 2 / 4 / 1-3-5-6

RACE FOUR

Needing a rub of the green in his favour from inside the second line, O B LEGAL (8) will be hoping some tempo helps open the gaps. Luckless last start when just 4m in arrears of the winner FRAYA, his effort had merit when first up from a spell with a 3rd to the in-form ISNTTHATRIGHT.

DEVOUGED (6) started from the second line last start and made some nice closing metres when 8m astern of NAKULA.  Asked to hang tough first over two starts back when fighting on for the bronze behind TORQUE TO THE MUSIC, he can overcome the wide gate to issue a challenge.

GIRL FROM ROSEDALE (7) is dealt the ODM embargo after her last start where she made the early error to end her chances. With blazing speed off the arm, she will likely be lighting the fuse here.

MARTY THE MARTIAN (2) continues to give away experience as a maiden tackling experienced performers. Making a nice close out last start for the silver behind MIKI MAGIC, he can chime in.

SELECTIONS: O B LEGAL (8), DEVOUGED (6), GIRL FROM ROSEDALE (7), MARTY THE MARTIAN (2)
SUGGESTED BET: O B LEGAL (8) to win

RACE FIVE

This same race last week looked better suited for the wider and second line players and again the same scenario looks to eventuate with many of the same runners. MISTER WOODPORT (10) was from gate 9 in that contest and found himself parked with 1000m to travel in a grafting 3rd when 5m away. This looks within reach.

SOULWRITER (6) started from outside the second line in that contest and was wide off the track in grabbing 4th behind  the winner LOOKS JUST RIGHT. Hitting the line smartly here three starts back for the silver, she can be making a closing challenge again here.

SARASUN (7) was sent forward from this alley and was able to work her way to the front but unable to finish them off in fading to a midfield finish. She will be trying to improve last week’s result.

RISKY BUSINESS (9) was not in last week’s contest that most of these back up out of, but he brings placings in his past two starts, the latest when 3rd behind the sharp win of WHERES OUR MONEY.

SELECTIONS: MISTER WOODPORT (10), SOULWRITER (6), SARASUN (7), RISKY BUSINESS (9)
SUGGESTED BET: MISTER WOODPORT (10) to win

RACE SIX

Chasing down a hat-trick of victories, FREE THINKER (9) will be relying some early and mid-race heat which looks likely to prevail. Taking them all the way last start when zipping up the stretch in 27.2 to claims an effortless 2m margin, he is yet to miss the money in 10 starts and can shanghai the threepeat.

SISTA BLISS (4) was second up from a let up here last week when making an early move from the second line to get outside the leader. Fighting to the wire in holding 2nd to NAKULA, her first up effort had merit behind subsequent Saturday winner FLIGHT CREW. She has the gate to challenge.

SOME GIRLS DONT (8) was a winner from this gate last start when easing off and doing it tough. Needing some luck here, the race should generate tempo, if the gaps open when needed, she is up to it.

NAKULA (6) showed the benefit of returning to maiden company two starts back when taking them all the way. Franking her efforts with another all the way victory last time, she can feature again.

SELECTIONS: FREE THINKER (9), SISTA BLISS (4), SOME GIRLS DONT (8), NAKULA (6)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SEVEN

These 70Series have been providing some slick racing and this heat looks as strong as there has been assembled in recent editions. BURNS BAY (3) was back to his best last start when sent forward from the wide gate and finding the front was able to see it out in impressive fashion. He can look for a repeat.

THE HIGH COMMANDER (4) was forced to sit parked last start outside DELTA THREE and after the tough trip had to settled for a fighting 2nd. 3rd to THREE RIVERS the start prior, three back he was beaten a lip behind BONNIE PRINCE LOUIS. It is a sticky gate but he can be asking the questions.

MIDNIGHT CALM (9) resumes from a freshen after his last appearance in a 70Finl when sent to the front from gate 5, the 26.5 opening panel proving too costly. He can be chiming in up the stretch.

HE SAID SHE SAID (1) is at his best with a cheap trip against the poles and looks set to gain the ideal trip here. He rises in grade, but will be tucked away off the tempo ready to offer.

SELECTIONS: BURNS BAY (3), THE HIGH COMMANDER (4), MIDNIGHT CALM (9), HE SAID SHE SAID (1)
SUGGESTED BET: BURNS BAY (3) to win

RACE EIGHT

A tricky veterans event to close out the day where BITCOIN (6) can look to get forward and bounce back to some winning form. Buried against the poles last start when 5m in arrears of the airborne LE TISSIER, the start prior he was a beaten fav behind subsequent winner JONAH JONES. This is within reach.

PARAMA (4) started from inside the second line last start and did not get the space when needed in finishing midfield behind MAFUTA VAUTIN. Collared in the closing strides two starts back when looking to take them all the way, he can be close enough to the action to throw down the challenge.

GLENLEDI BOY (8) will need some luck but if the gaps open in time, he can be issuing a closing raid. With a smaller field and options last start, he arrived for the prize and will be thereabouts again.

ITS MR CLOONEY (9) was grafting it out last start and was game in defeat when a neck from the winner. With the right trail he can be in the mix once again.

SELECTIONS: BITCOIN (6), PARAMA (4), GLENLEDI BOY (8), ITS MR CLOONEY (9)
SUGGESTED BET: BITCOIN (6) to win
