Racing Queensland (RQ) advises that the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club will conduct four weekly race meetings on a permanent basis commencing in April 2023.
The additional weekly race meeting is expected to generate increased prizemoney and appearance fees of approximately $2m annually to participants.
The new weekly race meeting at Ipswich will be conducted in a day timeslot on Thursday’s and will commence April 6, 2023.
Nominations for the Ipswich Thursday meetings will close on Tuesday mornings at 9am.
The Ipswich Thursday programs will cater exclusively to 288m races. The program will cater to different grades each week to spread opportunities across the racing pool. Updated programs for April have been posted on the RQ website.
Participants should note the regular weekly schedule in SEQ will be impacted by the Rockhampton Cup heats and final in the last two weeks of April. As such the following calendar changes will apply:
- Ipswich night meeting on Wednesday April 19 (288m) instead of Thursday April 20
- Capalaba day meeting on Thursday April 20 instead of Wednesday April 19
- Ipswich night meeting on Wednesday April 26 (288m) instead of Thursday April 27
- Ipswich day meeting on Thursday April 27 (431m) instead of Friday April 28
