Burwood Stud, who will offer the biggest draft with 18 lots at the Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sale at Redcliffe Paceway on Sunday, April 2, has a record in the associated 2YO Sale Classic that is second-to-none.

The Pittsworth-based nursery has bred, prepared or stood the sire of no less than seven of the 14 Classic winners to date.

The ‘Class of 2023’ will be spearheaded by a lovely bay colt by the former Australian 2YO Colt of the Year The Storm Inside from the Group 3 winner and placegetter Come Cullect 1:52 ($204,316). He is listed as Lot 51.

“He’s an outstanding colt,” Burwood Stud principal Noel Denning said, pointing out that “all the Burwood Stud yearlings are for genuine sale.”

Lot 23, bay/brown colt from the last crop of champion Queensland sire Cammibest, should also attract plenty of attention.

He’s a half-brother to nine winners including the Group/Listed winners Blazing Terror ($234,654), Just Rokin ($147,997) and Mach Dreamy.

The pick of the Burwood fillies could be Lot 13, a strongly built filly by He’s Watching out of the NZ bred mare Bute Sister, the dam of seven sub 2:00 performers.

Other youngsters from the Burwood Stud draft include an Ultimate Machete half-brother to the Redcliffe Sales Classic winners Shes Miss Devine, Mathilda Diventa and Couldntresist (Lot 19); a Franco Nelson colt from Just Seduce Me NZ 1:52.8 (Lot 24); a Franco Nelson half-sister to the Redcliffe Sales Classic winner Dapper Bessie (Lot 33); a Yankee Rockstar half-sister to the Canberra Cup winner Justa Little Bit (Lot 36); a Franco Nelson half-brother to the Redcliffe Sales Classic winner Designer Style (Lot 41); and an Ultimate Machete half-sister to the Tasmanian Cup winner Gotta Good Reason (Lot 44).

All yearlings sold at the sale are eligible for the guaranteed $100,000 Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sale 2YO Classic in 2024 and the $50,000 3YO Classic in 2025. They are also eligible for QBred, Breeders Crown, Bathurst Gold Crown, NSW Breeders Challenge and Vicbred.

It is a non-reserve sale with no upset price or minimum bidding price.
