RACE ONE

An absolute belter to open a rare Friday night metro fixture where a big improvement in barriers can be the catalyst for SOEXTRA (3) to chase down his first win this prep. Faced with the outside second line at his past two, he was rattling home wide out last time, running the fastest last mile and covering the most ground. Settling closer is a huge plus.

UPTOWN BEACHGIRL (2) has been uber impressive since resuming, making it 2 from 2 for the term and completing a hat-trick to go with her last start of her 3YO season when picking up a feature win. Taking them all the way last week and finishing it off with a 54.7 half, this is the next step but a step she looks ready to hurdle.

DESPONDENT (9) is staring down a hat-trick after his latest Veteran’s victory here on Tuesday when leading throughout over the 2138m with a slick last 800. He can trail through to feature.

TARGARYEN (10) was locked away on the poles here last week and when shown open space was able to pick up and sprint sharply to claim the prize. The wide gate makes it tough chasing the pace.

SELECTIONS: SOEXTRA (3), UPTOWN BEACHGIRL (2), DESPONDENT (9), TARGARYEN (10)
SUGGESTED BET: SOEXTRA (3) to win

RACE TWO

Set alight down the back stretch last week to inject some serious heat into the contest, THE HIGH COMMANDER (3) hit the front and looked to pull clear to finish them off. Tippy toeing in the closing stages and collared by DAZZLE ME, it followed four successive placings. This looks within reach; the only concern is the middle trip.

CLASS TO THE MAX (1) rolled forward here last time and was forced to sit parked over the sprint trip but wilted late to finish in the second half of the pack behind MISTER REACTOR. Runner-up at his previous two behind winners that have claimed a further win since, he has the options to challenge.

HIPSTAR (8) was second up here on Tues when making a mid-race move to get outside the leader at the 1200 and was able to graft it out to the line to be a half-neck away. He will be probing here.

THE HUMMER (11) faced gate 10 last start and was strong to the line wide out to grab the silver behind MISTER REACTOR. IN nice touch at present, he can be working into the contest to feature.

SELECTIONS: THE HIGH COMMANDER (3), CLASS TO THE MAX (1), HIPSTAR (8), THE HUMMER (11)
SUGGESTED BET: THE HIGH COMMANDER (3) to win

RACE THREE

Pressing forward to sit parked from gate 6 last time out, DAZZLE ME (1) was content to not engage THE HIGHCOMMANDER at the 600 when it powered up to zoom past. Keeping a controlled pace, he kept coming in the stretch and was able to arrive to claim a 1.5m margin. He has options to repeat.

HEAVEN IN LOCKSLEY (2) is chasing down a quartet of victories following a sweeping of a 70Series sitting either side of a strong win from gate 5 when sent forward in the early stages. Taking the 70Final last start at Redcliffe all the way with 4m to spare, he can throw it down.

SWAYZEE (8) will be tucked away with an economical trip and the poles looks the right place to be in this battle. Buried in the run last start at Redcliffe, he can be probing for a late gap.

KANYE CRUSADER (3) was beaten by the second line last start when trying to chase UPTOWN BEACHGIRL in a race where nothing made ground. Under 2m away two back, he can chime in.

SELECTIONS: DAZZLE ME (1), HEAVEN IN LOCKSLEY (2), SWAYZEE (8), KANYE CRUSADER (3)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2 / 1-2-8 / 1-2-3-8-10

RACE FOUR

The first of two heats in the 2023 McNeil Trotters Series where some of the stronger performers have the handicaps to overcome and are fresh up. With race fitness HAMMER SON (4) should relish a return to the front tape after facing handicaps in recent attempts. Game in defeat last start at Redcliffe when parked, he can be close enough to the action to capitalise.

GUNNING (12) just sneaks into this and will be first up in Qld for his first race outing in 8 weeks. With a tidy trial performance over two weeks ago at Redcliffe, his Victorian form was behind some smart trotters including CENTRAL OTAGO and CHINESE WHISPER secures him the 20m and despite that, can challenge fresh.

MATATOKI (9) gave JACCKA WATCH 10m and finished only 3m away here two starts back. Forget his last run where he tackled the pacers, a return to his own gate in this grade can see him feature.

JACCKA WATCH (8) has 3 wins in his past 5 starts, the latest when darting through along the passing lane to grab the prize. A winner off 40m five runs back, he can be chiming in at some stage.

SELECTIONS: HAMMER SON (4), GUNNING (12), MATATOKI (9), JACCKA WATCH (8)
SUGGESTED BET: HAMMER SON (4) to place

RACE FIVE

Staring down a hat-trick of wins, LORD OF MISRULE (11) will need to take another step up here, but his efforts since arriving in Qld have been solid. Powering over the top of them last start after retreating from gate 5, it followed a tough Redcliffe win when parked. He looks up to the task.

HE SAID SHE SAID (1) lands all the favours from this gate and does his best work when settled on the peg line. Taking them all the way last start at Marburg in a 70Heat with a smart last 800, he can burrow through and with the options thereafter can throw down the challenge.

MACH DADDY (3) was only 4m from ALTA REVELRY at Redcliffe two starts back after easing to find position. Trying to make late metres last start behind LORD OF MISRULE, back to the front is a plus.

THE GENERAL (8) had gate 1 last start and was soon shuffled to three back and was not too far from the winner DAZZLE ME. With another economical trip, he can be searching for gaps to offer.

SELECTIONS: LORD OF MISRULE (11), HE SAID SHE SAID (1), MACH DADDY (3), THE GENERAL (8)
SUGGESTED BET: LORD OF MISRULE (11) to win

RACE SIX

The second of the McNeil heats where RILEY MOMENT (9) can look to overcome the 20m impost. Runner-up in similar grade three starts back when beaten a blister behind JACCKA WATCH, her past two have been in open company. Despite the 20m, a return to this company can see her arrive.

HAPENNY BRIDGE (1) has the front tape and inside lane which is a big plus for her chances when the strands fly. Pressing the issue from a 20m mark last start, she worked to the front and set a strong last 1200m, only to be collared near the line. Still being a maiden against experienced campaigners is a concern.

KAR MANOR (12) is a huge risk at the tapes, but if he can step cleanly, he puts himself right into calculations. A slick winner from the mobile two starts back, his chances will be known within 200m.

HELLO JOLENE JOLENE (7) comes into this fresh with solitary runs in January and then February. Enigmatic, she is very good when getting it right, as indicated by her nine wins on this deck, but she can do plenty wrong, it all depends which Jolene turns up

SELECTIONS: RILEY MOMENT (9), HAPENNY BRIDGE (1), KAR MANOR (12), HELLO JOLENE JOLENE (7)
SUGGESTED BET:  RILEY MOMENT (9) to win

RACE SEVEN

Resuming in fine fettle this campaign, AMERICAN OUTLAW (1) looks ideally placed to make it a threepeat. Taking them all the way last start where he closed it out with a slippery 54.8 last half, his win two back was big when overcoming the outside second line. He has all the favours to take this.

SQUARE DEALER (8) maps for the perfect trip in behind the speed as he goes in search of a winning hat-trick. Scoring at Marburg two starts back, he then took them all the way in a 70Heat at Redcliffe last start with 4m to spare. If the leader is weary, he can be looking to take the snipers shot.

MELTON BEACH (6) was first over the line last week after being sent around at the 1200 to take control, but ultimately was stripped of the race in the steward’s room. A winner at two of his previous three, he can feature again.

MISTY CREEK (5) powered home over the top to claim a smart qualifying win at Redcliffe two starts back and then was game in defeat when parked outside UPTOWN BEACHGIRL last week. He might be rolling the sleeves again.

SELECTIONS: AMERICAN OUTLAW (1), SQUARE DEALER (8), MELTON BEACH (6), MISTY CREEK (5)
SUGGESTED BET: AMERICAN OUTLAW (1) to win

RACE EIGHT

With a luckless effort three starts back at her first Qld outing, OUR PRINCESS KENNEDY (3) bounced back emphatically second up when powering off the arm from gate 5 and maintaining the rage to claim an 18m margin. Just 4m away last start from the second line, a return to the front looks ideal.

BETTOR ROMANCE (1) started from this same gate last week and was soon shuffled to three back on the poles before making late metres to be under 3m from the winner. Beaten an identical margin the start prior on The Triangle, she can secure the soft trip here to make a closing challenge.

ROSES ARE SWEET (6) has been a model of consistency and last start went within an eyelash of successive wins. Setting the speed in front, she was collared on the line and despite a tricky gate can chime in.

JASPER (2) will strip fitter from her last appearance where she returned from a spell. Making some late metres after retreating off the arm to be 7m away, she might need to graft it out here.

SELECTIONS: OUR PRINCESS KENNEDY (3), BETTOR ROMANCE (1), ROSES ARE SWEET (6), JASPER (2)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR PRINCESS KENNEDY (3) to win

RACE NINE

FORBIDDEN JEWEL (7)
has been runner-up at her past two starts, the latest here last week when trying to see it out but collared near the line to finish 1m in arrears. Wide off the track when sent three wide with a lap to travel at Redcliffe two back, the gate makes the task tough, but she might just be able to pinch this.

COULDNTMISAFALCON (5) has faced a second line alley at her past two starts, the latest when chasing as the race was controlled in front as GWYNETH P landed the winning shot. Fitter for that run where she was returning from a freshen, she was 3rd to TINGE OF FEAR two back and positioning cheaply can see her challenge.

SHEZ NOTORIOUS (6) was taken back last start and from the poles was making some late ground to be 7m from the winner. Making an error two back when ROSES ARE SWEET capitalised, showing early hustle would be no surprise in this line up.

LEANDER (9) darted through from gate 1 looking to go all the way last start. Trying to break them up with a 27.7 3rd panel, she was out of bullets and gunned down in the stretch to hold 3rd. She can chase to feature.

SELECTIONS: FORBIDDEN JEWEL (7), COULDNTMISAFALCON (5), SHEZ NOTORIOUS (6), LEANDER (9)
SUGGESTED BET: FORBIDDEN JEWEL (7) to win

RACE TEN

Undefeated since arriving in the Sunshine State, MISS DAYTONA (7) will be out for the hat-trick but will need to be at her best from this alley. Holding on for a narrow victory when leading throughout last start on The Triangle, she saw it out here over this trip first up. She can defy the gate for the threepeat.

KEAYANG TARA (1) has been chipping away with some handy performances without really threatening for a victory, the latest a tidy effort after retreating from gate 5 before making late metres behind GWYNETH P. With good speed off the arm, she has the options to challenge.

MORESCO (8) was back in the winners circle last start when fired off the arm to take them all the way over this trip. Back to mare’s only company and with the likely soft trip, can be ready to pounce.

ZOES RAINBOW (9) turned it all around third up in Qld when taken back early before putting them to the sword to claim a 15m margin at Redcliffe. This is a shade tougher, but the times backed the performance last time.

SELECTIONS: MISS DAYTONA (7), KEAYANG TARA (1), MORESCO (8), ZOES RAINBOW (9)
SUGGESTED BET:
