Rockhampton apprentice jockey Brooke Johnson continued her amazing winning streak at Yeppoon, last Saturday riding her second consecutive treble for the week.

By winning on her first three race rides at Keppel Park aboard Flaming Asteroid, Miss Gaga and So Obelia, Brooke tallied up six winners in succession.

The previous Saturday at Bundaberg, her only three rides netted the winners Russian Whisper, Stocial and Kobie Rocks in the Bundaberg Cup.

It marks a remarkable run of form since returning to the saddle, after being sidelined with a broken nose and facial injuries since early July.

Unsurprisingly, Brooke was rightly chuffed about her 10 days of riding while refreshingly humble as well.

“I am very happy about how it is all going but I couldn’t have done it without Clinto (Clint Taylor),” she said.

Brooke Johnson has won 18 races across seven of the last nine meetings she has ridden.

Brooke commenced her career in the saddle at Thangool on July 22 last year, with her debut win that day on Grand De Lago, the first of her 43 victories to date.

“Brooke is a natural riding talent. Her work ethics are second to none," Clinton Taylor said.

"Horses run for Brooke as she has brilliant balance, we have worked hard with her in judging pace and reading a race.

"She is certainly reaping the benefits and she is such a good listener willing to learn and improve. She has certainly improved immensely over the last six months.”

Taylor used Brooke Johnson’s winning ride on Giga Kick’s full sister Miss Gaga at Yeppoon last Saturday as an example of her jockeying poise.

“That was a perfect 10 out of 10 ride and Brooke made all the difference between winning and losing,” Clinton said.
