RACE ONE

A tricky contest presents to open the night with plenty of power drawn the second line. Landing his best gate since arriving in Qld, ART JESTER (2) might just have found his opportunity. Attacking the line strongly last start from deep field, he was buried two back and never got a crack.

RED RIGHT HAND (12) has been consistent from bad gates and lands another tough one here. Pressing forward from gate 6 before releasing last start, he held on for the silver behind subsequent winner BIG SKEWY. Runner-up to MELTON BEACH two back, he can try to issue a challenge.

BETTERTHANAROCKET (10) is effective off speed and was a winner here four runs back at this trip when darting up the passing lane. Holding 3rd at his past two when chasing, he can be thereabouts.

GOLIGHTLY (1) is perhaps suspect at the middle trip with just the solitary win from 30 attempts, however the map is in his favour. Landing the prize up the passing lane last start, he can chime in.

SELECTIONS: ART JESTER (2), RED RIGHT HAND (12), BETTERTHANAROCKET (10), GOLIGHTLY (1)
SUGGESTED BET: ART JESTER (2) to win

RACE THREE

A second division qualifier that looks an open battle where the gate might be enough advantage to call on. ETERNAL GOLD (1) never had a decent crack at them last week from the second line and two back was chasing in vain as THE TAX CULLECTOR stepped it out in front. He has options to cash in.

JAGARA (10) faced the outside front line at Redcliffe last start when retreating and then trying to make a late raid, finishing 6m astern of the winner AJAY BREEZY ROSE. Asked to hang tough when parked and finishing 3rd to LAST TIME JOE the start prior, he can ask some questions in this line up.

OOGA CHAKA (2) was hitting the line strongly last start to grab the bronze when 2m from the winner. Eased from gate 5 before closing hard behind LUVBITE two back, look for him charging.

NOT THE KINGSWOOD (3) found the front before releasing last start and from there had to settle for 2nd behind COCORA. Settling close to the speed can see him feature again here.

SELECTIONS: ETERNAL GOLD (1), JAGARA (10), OOGA CHAKA (2), NOT THE KINGSWOOD (3)
SUGGESTED BET: ETERNAL GOLD (1) to win

RACE FOUR

Just the small field to do battle but it will be an all-important contest in deciding if a Victoria Cup assault remains an option for LEAP TO FAME (6). Last seen when mammoth in defeat in the Eureka, he warmed up for that with an effortless win over this trip. Despite the gate, he should be too classy.

HOT AND TREACHEROUS (3) is also on trial for the Victoria Cup and with a gate advantage, can certainly look to make his presence felt. A commanding winner from the standing start last time out when overcoming the 20m impost, he was luckless in the Len Smith Mile two back, He can throw it down.

MR MCLAREN (4) returns from a spell as he builds towards improving his Inter Dominion ranking. Runner-up to LEAP TO FAME at his most recent appearance, he has trialled super.

SELECTIONS: LEAP TO FAME (6), HOT AND TREACHEROUS (3), MR MCLAREN (4)
SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 6 / 3 / 4-5

RACE FIVE

Faced with second line barriers at his past two starts, the wider gate is not much better for BETTING ORIGIN (6) in this contest. Attacking the line strongly last start when 6m from ALTA MAGACIAN, he was buried away two back behind a dictating THE TAX CULLECTOR. He can defy the wide gate.

KALYPSO SAM (1) might light work of a second line gate last time out when moving around them in the early stages to sit parked and pull clear to a big 16m margin. This will be a tougher battle, yet he lands the good gate and with the options can issue a challenge.

ROSBERG (8) was sent forward to sit parked last time out and despite the tough trip was still giving when just a neck from the winner. He will be tucked away here ready to make a closing raid.

CLASSICMAJOR (2) was asked to sit parked last start and despite fading in the closing stages, was not that far away in a game effort. From the gate, he gets his chance to be an improver.

SELECTIONS: BETTING ORIGIN (6), KALYPSO SAM (1), CLASSICMAJOR (2), ROSBERG (8)
SUGGESTED BET: BETTING ORIGIN (6) to win

RACE SIX

Runner-up in both starts since resuming from a spell, LORD ZARIAS (5) was trying to fight them off last start when grabbed in the closing stages by the in-form APHORISM. Trying to reel in DEUS EX when first up, he finds the right conditions to capitalise.

AUNTY BELLA (3) was a winner at the mile here three starts back when rifled off the arm to take control and take them all the way in a slick mile. Trying to work into it from outside the second line at her next start, she held 3rd to MELTON BEACH last start. Firing early bullets can see her challenge.

SEND IT (9) was luckless last time out when probing for runs that never opened when chasing behind DEUS EX. Not much has been in his favour in recent starts and he can chase hard again here.

JENDEN STRIKE (1) has a smart record over the middle trip and brings a strong last start 3rd. Sent forward from gate 7 to sit parked in that contest, she can burrow through to feature.

SELECTIONS: LORD ZARIAS (5), AUNTY BELLA (3), SEND IT (9), JENDEN STRIKE (1)
SUGGESTED BET:  LORD ZARIAS (5) to win

RACE SEVEN

The mare’s do battle at the mile here where MIGHT AS WELL (2) should appreciate a good alley against her own sex. Runner-up to BEACH VILLA last start week from gate 2, she had been no closer than gate 5 in her four previous meetings against the mare’s. This looks within reach.

WILD IMAGINATION (4) sat parked last start and was able to grind out a 4m victory to claim a mare’s qualifier. Luckless the start prior from a wide gate, there is plenty of speed on the front line of this battle, but she can press forward to find position to challenge.

MISS MUCHO (8) was making good metres in the closing stages last start when runner-up to HOLI STARZZZ. A passing lane 3rd to APHORISM the start prior, she has the second line options to call on.

COCORA (6) was allowed to settle early before being revved up in the middle stages to get forward from the wide gate and take control. Seeing it out thereafter, she can be thereabouts again here.

SELECTIONS: MIGHT AS WELL (2), WILD IMAGINATION (4), MISS MUCHO (8), COCORA (6)
SUGGESTED BET: MIGHT AS WELL (2) to win

RACE EIGHT

MERRY DANCER (6)
is knocking on the door to win in this grade after finishing as the runner-up at her past three in succession. Facing a second line gate at her past two, she was strong to the line last start when 4m from WILD IMAGINATION. This looks her chance to capitalise.

KEAYANG TARA (1) backs up from Tuesday where she was exposed early to press forward from a wide gate and battled hard to the wire when 6m from the winner DELIGHTFUL RAINBOW. A tidy 3rd to subsequent winner APHRODITE the start prior, she has the gate to make a play.

ARCO (7) was beaten by the second line gate last start when midfield, which had followed three successive placings. A beaten fav two back behind OUR FIRE AND DELIGHT, she has podium claims.

MISSTREPO (9) eased to the fence last start and was trying to wind up in the closing stages when 9m in arrears. A solid tempo will aid her chances of chiming in over the latter stages.

SELECTIONS: MERRY DANCER (6), KEAYANG TARA (1), ARCO (7), MISSTREPO (9)
SUGGESTED BET: MERRY DANCER (6) to win

RACE NINE

Strong in the closing stages two starts back but missing a cheque when returning from a let up, ADELLE (7) still put up a strong performance. Second up at the mobile 2138 last start, she was sent forward from the second line and taught her rivals a trotting lesson with a 22m victory. Despite a wide gate, the repeat is on.

SUGARINSPICE (1) has made errors in the run at her past two starts, the latest when pressing forward in the first 400. Closing in nice order for the bronze behind FUNNY FACE here three back, she has the early speed to take control and will be trying to repel the challengers.

LEESA CASTLETON (8) was buried in the run last start from the 10m tape and never really found space to make a play. Using the passing lane when 3rd three back, she can secure a soft trip here.

SIR FAHRENHEIT (9) was best of the chasers last start to grab the silver behind ADELLE. Game when parked and running FUNNY FACE to a neck margin three back, he can be joining in.

SELECTIONS: ADELLE (7), SUGARINSPICE (1), LEESA CASTLETON (8), SIR FAHRENHEIT (9)
SUGGESTED BET: ADELLE (7) to win

RACE TEN

Although winless in four attempts from behind the tapes, DESPONDENT (1) might have found the ideal set up to change those figures. Running HOT AND TREACHEROUS to a 2m margin after releasing under these conditions three back, he has not been too far away in both subsequent appearances. A safe start puts him right in the fight.

ITS MR CLOONEY (2) was sent to sit parked last start in open company and after the tough trip wilted over the closing stages. Safely away but eased to the fence from the front tape two starts back, he can look to press the issue early here to issue a challenge.

MIRACLE MOOSE (8) did some early work to secure position last start at the mobile 2138 and was trying to fight when midfield behind DEUS EX. A smaller field will aid his chances from the back mark.

TIZ A SIZZLER (6) was a winner from 10m here three starts back after rolling forward to sit parked and proving too strong for his rivals. Gate 7 has been his undoing at his past two starts, but back to the tapes, he can feature.

SELECTIONS: DESPONDENT (1), ITS MR CLOONEY (2), MIRACLE MOOSE (8), TIZ A SIZZLER (6)
SUGGESTED BET: DESPONDENT (1) to win
