“I don’t think we’ve had runners on the same day here for about 30 years,” Lawrie Mayfield-Smith said.
“I’m pretty sure Noel is coming up for his race and hopefully both of ours will be competitive.”
Prolific Melody had plenty of supporters last start when she ran home strongly for third in a 1200 metre Maiden event at Ipswich on October 11.
“She got too far back last start and even though she’s dropping back in distance there’s plenty of speed in the race which suits and the bigger Eagle Farm track will suit her,” Lawrie Mayfield-Smith said.
“It’s a hard race and Lindsay Gough’s first starter (Jonny Da Wolf) has been trialling well and looks the danger.”
Prolific Melody was a $40,000 buy at the Gold Coast March sales as a yearling but Lawrie has restricted her career to only five starts while she matures.
