Racing fans are being given the rare opportunity to rub shoulders with Inter Dominion royalty.

Racing Queensland and The Creek’s Embracing Pacing initiative are combining to host a day trip to visit Queensland’s greatest ever pacer in Blacks A Fake.

Departing from either Brisbane or the Gold Coast on Wednesday, December 13 , the trip includes a visit to Woodford to see Australia’s undisputed Inter Dominion Champion enjoying retirement.

Out of the six ID finals Blacks A Fake competed in, he won a record-breaking four championships, and finished runner up in the other two finals.

Committee Chair and Albion Park Harness Racing Club Director Bethany Browne said the Blacks A Fake name was synonymous with the ID series.

“In terms of Inter Dominion champions, Blacks A Fake is a standout,” Mrs Browne said.

“His career statistics speak for themselves with 72 wins from 105 starts and just under $4.6 million in earnings.

“Blacky also won back-to-back Queensland Winter Cups in 2006/07 and won again in 2009 when the race was renamed in his honour.”

“I think most people who were around to see (driver and trainer) Natalie Rasmussen and Blacks a Fake race would remember being taken on the winning journey and cheering them on like Blacky was part of their stable.

“You just knew you were witnessing something special.”

Mrs Browne said the day trip to visit Blacks A Fake was definitely one not to be missed for harness racing lovers.

“You can come and enjoy a relaxing day out hosted by Greg O’Connor and Embracing Pacing, and on the journey we will relive Blacky’s amazing career highlights while enjoying some morning tea and beverages,” she said.

“Once at the Rasmussen’s farm, you will have the opportunity to meet and get a picture with Blacky at his home, along with his long-time travel companion Simon.

“We will then head off to Sandstone Point Hotel where you can have some lunch or sit out with a beverage and enjoy the beautiful water views and sea breeze.”
