Racing for 2024 got off to a flying start with the first annual Young Guns race day at Gunsynd Park on Saturday.
The first Young Guns race day is a relatively new concept with a group of like-minded young people, some who are born-and-bred Goondiwindi locals, and some who are new to the region, all who understand how difficult and daunting it can be to enter a close-knit community.
The group headed by Goondiwindi Young Citizen of the year Grace Griffiths and ably supported by another well-known local product in Marti Beeston aim to create a space and opportunities for young ones to get involved and get to know other community members with those who have been there and done that.
The race day was one of the many social events the Young Guns support in order to give newcomers a chance to meet and greet newcomers to town.
And, what a great day to be a part of some great facilities at Gunsynd Park and from their track side vantage point, the Young Guns had a great day out and witnessed some great racing.
It was another successful day at Gunsynd Park and paved the way for the annual Picnic Races on April 13.
Those wanting tickets must book online and must do so immediately as the day will certainly be a sell out.
The Goondiwindi Race Club has taken massive strides in the last couple of years and after hearing the bold plans for the future, things can only get better.
