Form Analysis: Albion Park July 22

22 July 2025

RACE 1

ASPIRING VICTREE (1) broke through to win last start in what appears the strongest form race beating Voltain and Melpark Magic. He has the inside gate which does look a query given his lack of mobile experience.

DOWN SOUTH DAISY (5) ran well last start in a race where she was able to sit up on speed and run second. That looks good form for a race of this nature.

FARROHK (6) is a former Victorian trotter having its first start for the Price stable. It looked to have solid ability as a 2YO and may be an improver having matured.

SELECTIONS: ASPIRING VICTREE (1), DOWN SOUTH DAISY (5), FARROHK (6)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 2

FENOMENAL (10) has taken on heats of the Inter Dominion in his last two starts and was well beaten on both occasions but that still clearly looks the standout form for a race of this nature. He looks well suited off the 30 metre handicap in this race and if he steps well he should be hard to beat.

MELPARK MAGIC (8) generally steps away quickly from the stand starts and looks well in facing a 20 metre handicap in this race. He will be ahead of two of his key rivals in this race at the start and he can capitalise on that early with his usual good standing start manners.

BENJI HALL (9) was a winner two starts ago after sitting outside the leader and proving too good. He made an error last start and was well beaten as a result. He should be close enough in the run off the 30 metre handicap and can be hard to beat if he brings his best manners.

VOLTAIN (3) can step quickly from the stand and if he finds the front early he will have options. He ran a good thjrd last start and looks well suited off the front line in this race.

SELECTIONS: FENOMENAL (10), MELPARK MAGIC (8), BENJI HALL (9), VOLTAIN (3)

SUGGESTED BET: FENOMENAL (10) to win.

RACE 3

SWEET MAORI MISS (5) is a former Victorian trotter that was having her first start for the Grimsey stable last start when she was heavily backed into $3.9 before doing things wrong after finding the front. She wasn’t beaten far considering the error she made and the good support for her throughout betting suggested she would run a good race. Should be better for that effort and can be hard to beat bringing her best manners.

MY RUMOUR HAS IT (3) is rarely far away in her races but has seemingly struggled to win in recent times with her latest victory having come in February earlier this year. She made an error at the start last time out which cost her any chance in that race. She can step quickly and if she leads she will give them something to catch.

FLASH KYVALLEY (8) was having his first run for the stable of Jack Butler last start. He got back in the run there and was doing his best work through the line when running into fifth. He should be better for that outing and looks hard to beat if he steps away cleanly and can settle close to them.

YSMIR (6) is a trotter that has always had good ability and just wasn’t suited last time out when not well suited by the handicaps. She might be able to settle closer in this race and if the race is run to suit she could be running into the finish.

SELECTIONS: SWEET MAORI MISS (5), MY RUMOUR HAS IT (3), FLASH KYVALLEY (8), YSMIR (6)

SUGGESTED BET: SWEET MAORI MISS (5) to win.

RACE 4

RUBY RHAYNE BOW (3) was an impressive second placing to Yoursospecial in a heat of the QBred Breeders Classic. She then went on to be well beaten in the final of that series but the race was run in tough conditions and she got shuffled a long way back in the run. She should be better for the experience of the first campaign and should prove hard to beat in this race.

GOTTAGO BARNEY (5) trialled well when not having the clearest passage up the home straight. He is a half sibling to Sweet Appeal who was able to win a few races before being retired. Looks one of the hardest to beat.

GOODTIME DOLLY (1) has the aid of the inside gate and seems to be leaving the gate reasonably. Has options from the inside and has been racing well enough to suggest a maiden win isn’t far away.

MYSTICAL DRAGON (7) trialled just moderately recently at Albion Park. He is the half sibling to More Sass who was a handy 2YO and was quite a professional in her early starts.

SELECTIONS: RUBY RHAYNE BOW (3), GOTTAGO BARNEY (5), GOODTIME DOLLY (1), MYSTICAL DRAGON (7)

SUGGESTED BET: GOTTAGO BARNEY (5) to win.

RACE 5

GREAT WHITE (3) had good early speed in New Zealand and should have the speed to drive through and lead this race before having options. He was quite impressive on debut in Australia last start when closing strongly to make up good ground in a quick last start. He is likely to be better for that run and should be hard to best in this race with the right run.

UDDERLY SWEET (6) took on the consolation of the Redcliffe Derby where he ran along strong sectionals before getting tired late and being run down by Fire Raiser. He then took on the JC McMullen which was a strong race where they rated 1.51.1 and he was well beaten but had done plenty of early work in that race. If he finds the front he will become the horse to best.

SINABUN (9) scored a big win at Redcliffe two starts ago when sitting without cover and running good time to beat English Dance. He then took on the Queensland Derby Qualifier where he ran well after starting from a poor draw to beaten just 18.1m in fast time. He draws to do no work early in this race.

CANADIAN LASS (4) has been improving each run so far in QLD and put in a really good run to finish second to Imani at this track after being suited by the genuine tempo in that race. She draws awkwardly in this race and may be shuffled back at the start if she cant find a position early.

SELECTIONS: GREAT WHITE (3), UDDERLY SWEET (6), SINABUN (9), CANADIAN LASS (4)

SUGGESTED BET: GREAT WHITE (3) to win.

RACE 6

CAPTAIN BART (1) was a very impressive winner two starts ago when able to drive through and lead in the early stages before scoring a dominant victory rating fast time. He draws ideally in this race and should be able to drive through and lead. He is likely to be very hard to beat.

MACKLEMORE CHEX (8) has good ability and was a nice third placing three starts ago in fast time before a good fourth two back and sixth last start in fast time. He looks likely to secure a good run through at the start on the back of Captain Bart and should be right in the finish.

UNCLE CRAIGO (9) has been racing well in recent starts and has the option to secure an economical run on the pegs in this race with Captain Bart likely driving through and being able to lead. He should be able to run into the money if able to secure a run like that.

IMANI (7) was able to secure a good run last start off the speed at Albion Park and was good enough to close over the top to score. She draws outside the front row in this race and is likely to be a long way off them early.

SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN BART (1), MACKLEMORE CHEX (8), UNCLE CRAIGO (9), IMANI (7)

SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAIN BART (1) to win.

RACE 7

PREMIER PAUL (3) is looking for four wins in a row in this race having been impressive since landing in the Brennan stable. He led last start and was a very dominant winner in lesser company at Redcliffe. His run two back was impressive when beating Fernco Nel at this track doing work in the early stages.

HOT ROD HARRY (10) is a horse with a lot of ability but has proven enigmatic at times when doing a few things wrong throughout his career. He won two in a row two and three starts ago before taking on The Queensland Sun and not getting the easiest of runs. He can bounce back here.

DARIN (8) sat leaders back two runs ago at Albion Park and just wasn’t quite able to reel in Thetorque Majority who had controlled the speed and turned it into a dash home. He was then a very impressive winner last start in what was seemingly a clear career best run rating 1.51.8 when leading all the way. This draw looks to make things more tricky.

FAY IRENE (2) has put in a few eye-catching runs since landing in the stable of Seaton Grima. She draws to advantage in this race and might be able to push to the lead which should see her fairly hard to catch in this race.

SELECTIONS: PREMIER PAUL (3), HOT ROD HARRY (10), DARIN (8), FAY IRENE (2), IM BOO (9)

SUGGESTED BET: PREMIER PAUL (3) to win.

RACE 8

MY ULTIMATE BUDDHA (3) has great early speed and should be able to zip across in the early stages before having options. He can seemingly get quite keen in his races at times and that becomes a bit of a query over the 2138 in this race.

POST PAINTER (8) has made a strong impression since moving from NZ to QLD this mare having won 3 of her past 4 starts and run second on the other occasion. She has drawn awkwardly in this race inside the back row but does look suited securing a soft run in the early stages of this race if the tempo is on early.

IRON CLAD (7) has been racing in slightly stronger company and appears quite well suited in this race despite drawing gate 7. He wasn’t beaten far last start in 1.51.7 behind Arrive who is a smart filly. If the tempo is on he should be right in the finish.

OUR SUNSET DELIGHT (11) was a last start winner when securing a good run just off the speed. He was able to edge out Vinsanity and Dragon in that race who are quality horses and look a strong formline for this race.

SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE BUDDHA (3), POST PAINTER (8), IRON CLAD (7), OUR SUNSET DELIGHT (11)

SUGGESTED BET: MY ULTIMATE BUDDHA (3) to win.

RACE 9

CHEVRON ART (7) sat without cover last start outside of a horse that took on heats of the Inter Dominion in Dougs Platter and was able to overpower him and forge to the front before holding off Whereyabinboppin in fast time considering the tough conditions. He steps back into a veterans race here and draws the front row this time. He is likely to be driven aggressively and should be hard to beat.

MAJOR JELLIS (2) worked hard in the early stages last start in a 34.1 lead time which is the fastest lead time I have ever seen at Albion Park. He did well not to be completely tailed off as it hasn’t generally been how he has been driven to do so much work. He looks like he might be able to work across in the early stages here back to the mile and should be hard to run down.

HE AINT FAKIN (5) is a horse that is capable of working in his races and has been in good form. He should be able to work across to sit up on speed and shouldn’t be too far away late.

BETTERTHANAROCKET (9) has a very good record over the mile at Albion Park and looks to land a draw in this race where he won’t need to do too much work early and can be running into the race if the race is run to suit. Should be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: CHEVRON ART (7), MAJOR JELLIS (2), HE AINT FAKIN (5), BETTERTHANAROCKET (9)

SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR JELLIS (2) to win

Slide10_9.png

RACE 10

BASILISK BOB (7) has won 3 of his last 4 starts as well as running second his only other start behind La Miki when beaten a half head. He draws poorly in this race but has high speed which makes him somewhat more versatile. Stepping up to the 2138 is a query but if he handles that he should be hard to beat again.

WILLIAMS (3) has brilliant gate speed and might be able to zip across to the lead again in this race. He raced in the consolation of the Derby and Oaks on Saturday where he was well beaten but makes a big step back in class here as well as stepping back to the 2138 which should both prove more suitable.

ALWAYS ADORNED (4) hit the line strongly last start behind Rock Hammer in what was only a dash home. She was second up in that race and should be better for the run there. With the benefit for her last run coming into this race nearing peak fitness third up she should be thereabouts.

ROCK NIEN (6) was a runner up two starts ago in very fast time at Redcliffe behind La Derniere. He then took on an easier race last start and wasn’t beaten far when held up for a clear at a crucial stage.

SELECTIONS: BASILISK BOB (7), WILLIAMS (3), ALWAYS ADORNED (4), ROCK NIEN (6)

SUGGESTED BET: ALWAYS ADORNED (4) each way.
