GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting:
Race 1: RHODES – N Callow 56.5kg (+0.5kg)
 
Stewards accepted the reason for the late rider change on LORD LUKER (Race 6) from J Guthmann-Chester to G Goomany.
 
 
Race 1: LIGHT HORSE BRIGADE CLASS 3 PLATE         2450 M
 
KERKORIAN – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice N Olzard stated the gelding travelled comfortably throughout the event, however; failed to respond to her riding from the 400m. Trainer J Bayliss indicated KERKORIAN would now be sent for a spell.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
 
TURN TABLE – Slow to begin.
 
RHODES – Bumped on jumping.
 
TAVIESLASS – Jumped out at the start and bumped RHODES. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
 
 
Race 2: AQUIS BEAUDESERT RACEDAY 4 MAY MAIDEN PLATE 2450 M
 
VAIN LUKE – Apprentice J Molloy was reprimanded under AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out fully to the end of the race. In assessing the matter, Stewards could not be satisfied his actions affected the finishing position of VAIN LUKE for fifth placing.
 
BREYTENBACH – Raced keenly when caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 1800m.
 
JUNGLE JET – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 1000m.
 
KAIROS LOUIE – When asked to comment on tactics adopted in leading the event, rider S Collett stated it was not her intention to lead, however from the wide draw the horse began well and with limited speed shown from runners drawn to the inside, she allowed KAIROS LOUIE to stride and take up the leading position.
 
MAJESTIC ANGEL – Held up behind the tiring BREYTENBACH between the 600m and 400m.
 
 
 
Race 3: BEAUDESERTRACECLUB.COM MAIDEN PLATE      1400 M
 
COOL PANELS – Began awkwardly and jumped out at the start.
 
BACKLIT BEAUTY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ENOLABA – Passing the 100m momentarily crowded for room and steadied when ALWAYS SPLIT TENS laid in before being corrected.
 
LASQUETI BOOM – Slow to begin (3L). Trainer H Page was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of LASQUETI BOOM. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MAIL LADY – Slow to begin.
 
IRIDESCENCE – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
Race 4: TAB WE'RE ON MAIDEN PLATE      1400 M
 
MARLEE'S ZANDER – Near the 1100m momentarily crowded for room and steadied when OCEAN ALPS shifted in momentarily before being corrected. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
WING NUT – Slow to begin. Bumped near the 300m. When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, rider R Wiggins stated the horse travelled comfortably until being inconvenienced when bumped near the 300m, adding from that point WING NUT was reluctant to stretch out.  
 
CANUNGRA BELLE – Raced keenly for a short distance near the 1000m.
 
LA STELLA ATLETA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
THUNDER SHANGHAI – Apprentice J Williams pleaded guilty to a charge under AR188(c) for attempting to weigh out with an unapproved safety vest and was fined $1000.
 
 
 
Race 5: THE LAST POST MAIDEN PLATE    1100 M
 
BENEDICT ARNOLD – Jumped in at the start and bumped GOLD ACEDEMY.
 
JUST STOP IT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
GOLD ACADEMY – Underwent a veterinary examination prior to the start after sustaining a minor laceration to left eye when being transported to track. Bumped on jumping and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance, rider N Callow stated he was not overly disappointed in the performance, adding GOLD ACADEMY would take benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
 
BEAU MONDE – Declared a late withdrawal at 2:54pm after rearing over prior to being loaded into the barriers. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on BEAU MONDE to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st RISK ASSESSMENT - 3c win, 4c place
2nd KOBE ASCOT – 4c place
3rd LEMON SUPREME – 6c place
 
Trainer T Churchill was advised BEAU MONDE must Officially Trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
STAR DIAMOND – As Apprentice D McGillivray was unable to claim his full allowance, Stewards permitted apprentice Casey Waddell to ride STAR DIAMOND.Apprentice D McGillivray was fined $200 under AR143(14) for being unable to claim his full allowance upon weighing out. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
 
 
Race 6: LEST WE FORGET CLASS 2 HANDICAP         1100 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 minutes due to two interstate thoroughbred events running behind schedule.
 
MISHANI WARFARE – Over the concluding stages had difficulty obtaining clear running.
 
MIXED SPICE – Raced wide from the 700m.
 
PRADO – Slow to begin.
 
SUPER DUCK – Jumped away awkwardly, resulting in rider J Williams becoming momentarily unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
WHO INVITED HER – Raced wide from the 700m.
 
CONEY ISLAND BABY – After becoming fractious in the tie up stalls, underwent a veterinary examination. Jumped out at the start. Approaching the 150m, momentarily crowded for room by THEGIRLSGOTTHIS, which shifted in under pressure before being corrected.
 
GALLERY MASTER – Began awkwardly.
 
THEGIRLSGOTTHIS – Shiftedin under pressure near the 150m before being corrected.
 
 
 
Race 7: DIGGERS CUP CLASS 2 HANDICAP         1400 M
 
BADGERS NUTS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MISHANI KINGDOM – Jumped out abruptly at the start and checked BIRMINGHAM. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
SEVENTIES HIT – Near the 250m momentarily tightened for room between BADGERS NUTS and MORITZ GIRL (J Guthmann-Chester), which shifted out to improve. J Guthmann-Chester was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Over final 100m laid in under pressure.
 
EVERLAST – Began awkwardly and a short distance later became awkward after slipping behind. A post-race veterinary examination revealed blood in the mouth, consistent with the horse having bitten its tongue.
 
BIRMINGHAM – Checked at the start and lost ground. Raced wide from the 700m.
 
BRIEF SOJOURN – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
 
Race 8: AQUIS BEAUDESERT RACEDAY 1 JUNE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP       1650 M
 
TANGO FAME – Rider C Waddell was reprimanded under AR184(b)(iii) for failing to include a girth or surcingle when weighing out. In assessing penalty Stewards acknowledged this was an oversight on her part and not an attempt to obtain any unfair advantage in weighing out.Change of tactics, to be ridden more forward from the better barrier. Bumped on jumping and as a consequence settled further back in the field than anticipated. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice C Waddell explained instructions were to race in a forward position, however; after being bumped at the start and settling toward the rear of the field, did not appreciate the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SPRINGTHORPE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
THE GOLDEN SOUL – Bumped leaving the 200m on several occasions and became unbalanced.
 
HARMONY REIGNS – Began awkwardly and shifted out on jumping.
 
KALENDS – Carried wider passing the 1200m. Caught wide in the early stages before obtaining cover passing the 900m. Rider A Allen dropped his whip near the 100m.
 
WHISKY TRAIN – After making the 1200m crossing awkwardly, shifted out and carried KALENDS wider for a short distance.
 
LUCKY JESS – Passing the 1400m raced tight between HARMONY REIGNS and WHISKEY TRAIN (J Guthmann), which shifted in when not fully clear. J Guthmann-Chester was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
MARIINSKY – Slow to begin.
 
FLASH PRINCE – Held up for clear running near the 250m. Leaving the 200m, when attempting to improve, bumped with THE GOLDEN SOUL and raced tight for a short distance, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.
