GENERAL

As Jockey M McDonald was not riding at today’s meeting due to illness, rider replacements were made as per the race day summary. Mr McDonald was advised he would require a medical certificate prior riding again.

Race 1: BLAA BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1050m

The start was delayed due to READY AND WAITING refusing to load. Stewards declared the filly a late scratching at 1pm. Trainer T Schofield was advised the filly would require to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on READY AND WAITING were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 1:00pm:

Win – 31c cents
Place – 21cents

THE RATTLESNAKE – Bumped heavily on jumping. Raced wide throughout.

ALL DASH - Knuckled on jumping, resulting in the mare shifting out abruptly bumping THE RATTLESNAKE. Approaching the 600m hung out badly taking the turn very awkwardly and took no further competitive part in the race. Trainer R Zahl was advised the mare would need to barrier trail to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had swelling to the spine area. Trainer R Zahl was advised that a veterinary clearance exclusive of any spinal abnormalities was required prior to the mare racing again.

SODBUSTER – Raced wide throughout.

Race 3: ELDERS RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1200m

Due to the photo finish equipment failing there was a delay in correct weight to give officials the opportunity to view alternative available films. Judges viewed the available replays and took into consideration the video angle of the finish positioned close to the finish line but not directly on the finishing line. After viewing the available replays, judges and stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that there was a determinable margin between DUSTINS and LASCO for first place therefore declared a dead heat between the two runners.

LASCO – Slow to begin. Laid out approaching the home turn hampering WHITE CHOCOLATE.

DEN END -Slow to begin.

WHITE CHOCOLATE – Raced wide throughout. Hampered on the home turn when LASCO laid out.

ROSETTES – Raced wide early.

Race 4 RAY WHITE RURAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m

NEW YORK WORLD – Slow into stride. Raced wide early.

RELICTA – Raced wide with cover early. Laid out and shifted outwards under pressure in the home straight. Rider M Gray was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mount in similar circumstances.
