GENERAL
 
Stewards conducted random urine tests on all riders at today’s meeting.
 
As J Felix was unable to attend today’s meeting due to illness, rider changes were made as per the steward’s summary sheet.
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 1 – J. Baker +2.5kg
Race: 5 – B Stower +1.0kg
Race 5 – J. Babarovich +0.5kg
 
 
 
Race 1: NORTH WEST HARDWARE BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 900m
 
Due to the photo finish equipment failing there was a delay in correct weight to give stewards the opportunity to view alternative cameras. Correct weight was not declared until stewards and judges were satisfied with the finishing positions.
 
SHOOT BIG – Shifted out on jumping.
 
PRESSURE AND TIME – Slow into stride.
 
FAR REACHING – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
 
 
 
 
BUBBLE BATH – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Lost its off-hind plate in running.
 
GOLD TRICKLE – Dislodged jockey D. Smith when returning to scale. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness and swelling to an the off fore tendon.. Trainer S Royes reported that the mare would be retired nonetheless was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to GOLD TRICKLE next racing.
 
Race2:  MUD HUT HOTEL MOTEL BENCHMARK  65 Handicap 900m
 
GREENHEART – Raced wide for the majority.
 
MIDAS STAR – Raced wide for the majority.
 
TRINITY MISSILE – Slow to begin then tightened for room shortly after the start. Passing the 600m, shifted wider to gain clear running. Upon returning to scale, apprentice jockey T. Leslight reported his mount had a tendency to lay out throughout the event.
 
BITTERGREYMAGIC – Shifted in shortly after the start tightening TRINITY MISSILE. Raced wide for the majority,
 
MOPAR – Was declared a late scratching at 8:35am due to lameness in the near-side front. Trainer K. Krogh was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to MOPAR next racing.
 
 
Race 3:  SUNCORP MAIDEN PLATE  1000m.
 
COLONEL VON TRAPP – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at Longreach on the 8th of April and was passed fit to race. Shifted ground at the 900m crowding MISS MILDRED. Jockey J. Baker was reminded of his obligations to be mindful of other runners when shifting ground.
 
GULF OF AQABA – Raced in restricted room for a short period after the start.
 
KNOCK’EM DEAD KID – Tightened shortly after the start and raced in restricted room for a short period.
 
GOOD KITTY – Shifted out shortly after the start tightening KNOCK’EM DEAD KID.
 
MISS MILDRED – Crowded for room and was momentarily eased off heels at the 900m when COLONEL VON TRAPP shifted ground. Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 4: RICHMOND FREIGHT & PLANT HIRE QTIS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1200m
 
LASTING PROMISE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at Longreach on the 8th of April and was passed fit to race. Raced wide for the majority.
 
GOLDEN EIGHTY – Shifted out on jumping.
 
TACTICAL ILLUSION – Bumped with BONAUGURA on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
CAIERON – Was declared a late scratching at 3:32PM for failing to refusing to proceed to the barriers. Stewards ordered that all bets on CAIERON be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st LASTING PROMISE – 4c win, 5c place
2nd VALONIA – 5c place
3rd RUSTY ROSE – 5c place
 
Trainer S. Royes was advised that the horse must complete a satisfactory trial or jumpout under race day conditions prior to next racing.
 
Jockey A. Thomson was examined by QAS staff after the following the running of race 4 after being dislodged in the saddling enclosure. Underwent a further assessment later in the day inclusive of a concussion assessment under the QRIC concussion protocol and was cleared of any significant injuries and therefore was not required to provide a medical clearance.
 
WHITE RIBBON – Hung out rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Upon returning to scale, apprentice jockey T. Leslight reported that the horse felt uncomfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small abrasion to the near side hind cannon with those consistent to being galloped on.
 
RUSTY ROSE – Bounded in the air on jumping.
 
BONAUGURA – Bumped with TACTICAL ILLUSION on jumping. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
VALONIA – Slow to begin then shifted in on jumping. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
SINGLE MALT – Began awkwardly and bounded in the air on jumping.
 
 
Race 5: KUHL & CO EARTHMOVING & HAULAGE MAXWELTON CUP OPEN Handicap 1200M
 
DEEP BREATH – Raced wide for the majority. Contacted heavily by THE TYLER passing the 150m after that runner was inclinded to hang in.
 
THE TYLER – Slow to begin. Inclined to hang in over the concluding stages and made heavy contact with DEEP BREATH passing the 150m.
 
DAWN TOO GOOD – Raced wide for the majority.
 
ZOOMARATTA – Began awkwardly.
