GENERAL
 
As apprentice Tamara Noble was stood down in the days prior to today’s meeting stewards approved replacements as per the race day summary.
 
As jockey Colin Lennon was experiencing transport difficulties for acceptable reasons stewards approved replacements as per the race day summary.
 
Trainer John Manzelmann advised stewards that he was experiencing transport difficulties enroute to the meeting and would be unable to attend. His runners were subsequently scratched at 2:10pm
 
Stewards questioned trainers which had late declaration of riders at today’s meeting and accepted the reasons tendered.
 
After the running of race 6 jockey T Chambers advised stewards that she was feeling unwell and had personal matters to attend to, therefor she would be unable to attend an inquiry from race 5. Ms Chambers was advised that she would be stood down pending the receipt of a medical certificate prior to riding again.
 
Race 1: CALLIDE VALLEY TYRES BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1075M
 
Stewards inquired into the reasons for IMAGINE THAT being tightened and checked near the 700m. After taking evidence from A Butler (IMAGINE THAT), W Satherley (EASILY AMMUSED), B Newport (MORABY GIRL) and S Zoljan (SUPER KONTIKI) and viewing the available replays stewards were unable to establish an identifiable shift from any runner and therefor other than advising all riders to exercise greater care and took no further action.
 
SENSATIONABULL – Raced wide during the middle stages when attempting to improve.
 
THE STONE MASON – Apprentice N. Olzard reported that she had lost use of her irons for some distance after the start, placing diadvante to ride her mount in the early stages.
 
GOLD REVOLUTION – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
IMAGINE THAT – Had to be restrained near the 800m when tightened between runners. Laid inwards when entering the home straight.
 
SUPER KONTIKI – Raced wide throughout.
 
MORABY GIRL – Jumped outwards at the start impeding BODY AND SOUL. Raced wide throughout.
 
BODY AND SOUL – Impeded upon jumping when MORABY GIRL jumped outwards at the start.
 
Race 2: RED STEER HOTEL / MOTEL BM45 Handicap 1075M
 
The start of the event was delayed when CANTOR proved difficult to proceed to the starting gates. Trainer D Rideout was advised that a warning would be placed onto CANTOR’S record for its pre-race behaviours.
 
REGALO D’ORO – Began awkwardly and raced wide in the early stages.
 
FRISCO’S IMAGE – Raced wide throughout.
 
AFRONGINASOCK – When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance trainer A. Briskey stated that the gelding had been working well in the lead up to today’s event and he was expecting a strong showing today.
 
ADMIRAL ASH – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result.
 
FAV’S FLYER – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CRAIGLEA LAKI – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CANTOR – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result.
 
Race 3: BILOELA BOBCATS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200M
 
HOLIDAY DREAMS – Raced wide in the early stages. Held up for clear running until a point leaving the 100m.
 
TELL THE WORLD – Stood flat footed and missed the start by some distance. Trainer R Hay was advised that the gelding would be stood down to a satisfactory trial for being extremely slow to begin.
 
NIC ME SOME – Stewards permitted apprentice M Goring to not claim his full allowance due to being a late rider replacement.
 
FARMER’S FRIEND – Became fractious in the barriers and got its right hind leg cast on the barrier partition. A subsequent pre-race veterinary examination found FARMER’S FRIEND to be lame in the right hind and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:32pm on vets advice.
 
Prior to declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on FARMER’S FRIEND to be refunded in full and deductions to apply as follows:

11c the place on TOY BLAZE (1st Place)
11c the place on NIC ME SOME (2nd Place)
11c the place on CRAIGLEA THERA (3rd Place)
 
Stewards advised trainer G. Bell that FARMER’S FRIEND would be stood down pending a veterinary clearance, she was also advised that the gelding would be stood down pending a satisfactory trial for its barrier manners. Trainer G. Bell advised stewards that it is now her intention to reconsider the immediate racing future of FARMER’S FRIEND.
 
YULE MY HERO – Raced wide throughout.
 
HEAT – Slow to begin. Raced wide through the middle stage. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
JUNGLE BEAT – Jumped outwards at the start bumping NIC ME SOME. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey W. Satherley stated that the gelding travelled well during the early and middle stages however failed to respond when asked for an effort. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Stewards intend to contact trainer J O’Sing in relation to JUNGLE BEAT’S post-race recovery.
 
KIRELLA SHORES – Slow to begin.
 
TOY BLAZE – Jumped inwards at the start. When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance trainer L. Petersen stated that she was surprised with today’s performance however she believes that a recent freshen up and a change to the race day work routine may have contributed to today’s run.
 
 
Race 4: 2024 BATTLE OF THE BUSH THANGOOL QUALIFIER OPEN Plate 1200M
 
The start was delayed when THE GENERAL was presented with the incorrect saddle cloth number and subsequently had to be changed. Trainer C. Smith who was represented by A Berwick was fined under $100 under AR106(1) for the incorrect saddling of the gelding.
 
AHWAHNEECHEE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
HANOVER SQUARE – Raced wide early.
 
LEGEND OF ZORRO – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Held up for clear racing room for the majority of the home straight.
 
REAL KEY – Raced wide throughout.
 
STARSONIC – Raced wide throughout.
 
TIGER LEGEND – Declared a late scratching at 2:10pm after trainer J. Manzelmann advised stewards he was experiencing transport difficulties.
 
THE GENERAL (NZ) – Laid out from a point leaving the 300m.
 
AIDENABET – Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
BAYERISCHE – Raced keen in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
STARHATTAN – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SUCH A WHIT – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 5: BETTA HOME LIVING BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1600M
 
SETHLANS – Stewards intend to inquire into the circumstances of an incident approaching the 900m involving jockey T Chambers (SETHLANS), apprentice M Apel (KNOWITALL JACK (NZ)) and jockey W. Satherley (LANOVA).
 
NIGHT VISION (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
LANOVA – Slow to begin. Bumped with DOUBLE BARREL on multiple occasions in the home straight.
 
DOUBLE BARRELL – Slow into stride. Lost touch with the field through the early and middle stages. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight, bumping with LANOVA on multiple occasions.
 
Race 6: M & M ELECTRICS QTIS Maiden Plate 800M
 
The start of the race was delayed when apprentice S. Zoljan’s saddle slipped on SHEZABLAST and she was unable to be restrained and galloped for some distance during the preliminary. After being captured by the clerk of the course, SHEZABLAST underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
BLUE ARROW – Raced wide throughout.
 
KALPOWAR KING – Bumped heavily shortly after the start by VIENNA VIENNA. Jockey B Newport was reprimanded under AR132(6)(c) for his use of the whip when out of contention.
 
RUSHING READY – Near the 600m shifted out marginally bumping with CERARED.
 
SHEZABLAST – Stewards permitted apprentice S Zoljan to not claim her full allowance due to being a late rider replacement.
 
MISHANI PLATINUM – Declared a late scratching at 2:10pm after trainer J. Manzelmann advised stewards he was experiencing transport difficulties.
 
SHOOT THE BOSS – Began very awkwardly and shifted in shortly after the start when being corrected. When questioned into the seemingly improved performance today trainer J. Moore stated that he was not surprised with today’s performance as the mare is better suited to the drop back in distance and it is his intention to look for similar distances in future starts.
 
CERARED – Near the 600m was bumped by RUSHING READY when that runner shifted out marginally. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned into today’s performance trainer G. Bell stated that the filly would be better suited to races of further distance and that it would be her intention in future starts to race CERARED over longer distances.
 
GROVERS PREDICTION – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and it was found to be lame in the left hind. Subsequently GROVERS PREDICTION was declared a late scratching at 4:33pm on vets advice.
 
Prior to declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on GROVERS PREDICTION to be refunded in full and deductions to apply as follows:
