When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding rider stated his mount travelled well behind the leaders throughout the early and middle stages however when the field commenced to sprint passing the 400m his mount felt reluctant to stretch out on the heavy track conditions and was disappointing in its run to the line. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality.
