As a result he elected to allow the horse to stride forward and take up a position where it was comfortable. He added that his mount then failed to finish off the race. |

Near the 700 metres attempted to buck for approximately 100 metres losing considerable ground. Then raced wide for the remainder of the race. Rider advised she believed the mare had resented the kickback. As the mare had bucked at its previous start, Trainer was advised that the mare must successfully complete two (2) barrier trials prior to again being permitted to race.

When questioned regarding tactics adopted on the gelding, Jockey explained she had been instructed to lead. She said after beginning only fairly, she rode her mount vigorously in the early stages to comply with her instructions. She added that after obtaining the lead the gelding then commenced to over-race and refused to settle and as a result was left without a finishing effort and weakened noticeably. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Jockey concurred with stewards in that she should have made a greater effort to restrain her mount once in the lead.
