Rider could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance other than that the gelding failed to travel throughout. Trainer expressed disappointment with the performance and could offer no explanation other than the gelding may not have handled racing on a dirt track for the first occasion. He further undertook to report back on the gelding’s post-race condition in the coming days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
