When attempting to secure clear running near the 500m clipped heels and blundered and shortly after had to be checked. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey P. Hammersley indicated that the pattern of the race did not suit the horse as it was positioned in the second half of the field, and as the pace was only steady in the early stages, was unable to finishing the race off strongly. He also indicated the interference he suffered approaching the 500m had a detrimental effect as he was attempting to improve into the race at that point.

Crowded passing winning post on first occasion. Questioned re: performance, rider stated horse races best when able to lead on its own. Due to strong tempo set when pressure applied outside of her in early stages she allowed that runner to cross forward of her afterwhich the horse travelled reasonably but failed to run on over the concluding stages. In her opinion horse failed to run out a strong 2150m. Post race vet failed to reveal any abnormality.

Rider advised the mare never travelled at any stage of the event and was disappointing in the manner in which it finished the race off. A post race vet exam, which was beaten by 26.4L, revealed a poor post race recovery. Stable representative Ms H Devlin was advised that Eleni Whirl would be required to barrier trial prior to racing again. Ms Devlin undertook to report back on the progress of Eleni Whirl in the days subsequent. Ms Devlin also advised that Eleni Whirl will now leave the stable.
