Jockey G. Goold pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that after directing his mount in during the early stages of the home straight, he rode the horse along and continued to pressure the horse which continued to shift in, causing SCARLETT HUSSIE to be tightened for room. SCARLETT HUSSIE as a result then had to be checked from the heels of SCRABBLE which was racing to the inside at that point. Jockey Goold was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 11 days to commence at midnight, 3 October and to expire at midnight, 14 October.

Jockey L. Cassidy reported that following this incident La Boadicea was reluctant to hold a position and he was obliged to pressure the horse throughout the event.
