Ljung reported that her mount travelled comfortably in a forward position throughout, however when placed under pressure from the 500m it failed to quicken as she had expected and, in her opinion, proved disappointing in the home straight. Trainer M. Currie also expressed disappointment in the performance, for which he could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer R. Lipp advised that in light of today’s performance, the mare will now be retired.
