Stewards questioned J Adams regarding the tactics adopted, he indicated that during the early stages he did not believe that he would have sufficient speed to cross the runners to his inside, he therefore elected to steady and attempt to position behind McGillivray, however when the pace then commenced to slacken near the 900m he elected to again shift wider and improve to a position outside the lead as his mount has shown, in previous starts to be unable to improve quickly and is more suited to sustaining a long run. Stable representative was advised that prior to racing again must undergo a veterinary examination to determine its suitability to compete. Stable rep said would be spelled.

COT: Conservatively from outside barrier; Settled OSL. Laid in, in the early part of the straight and passing the 300m when tiring had to be steadied from heels. Rdr re that was instructed to ride the gelding in a rearward position and he did not pressure his mnt after leaving the barriers in an endeavour to comply with his instructions, however, a short distance after the start mnt commenced to overrace and after attempting to restrain the gelding for a short distance he then was obliged to allow it to improve when it refused to settle. As a result, raced further forward than anticipated.
