When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding rider stated he had intended to lead the event however his mount failed to muster early speed to do so and settled in a handy position. Rider stated that his mount travelled only fairly in the early and middle stages and when asked to improve passing the 600m it failed to respond strongly to his efforts. Rider stated his mount only ground its way to the line and did not feel comfortable on the heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality.

Bumped on jumping. From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Rdr reported the gelding travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages when settling at the rear of the field, however when placed under pressure on entering the home straight it failed to respond to his riding and closed the race off only fairly. A post-race vet exam revealed no abnormalities.

In vicinity of the 1000m, shifted out when the pace of the race slackened. Near the 500m when awkwardly placed on heels, shifted in bumping with another runner.

Bumped after start. Whilst weakening near the 300m, was placed in restricted room. Rdr reported after beginning well settled further forward than intended and, this may have affected mare’s overall performance. Tnr agreed with Rdr’s comments and will monitor horse in the following days and look to continue its preparation. A post-race vet exam revealed a slow recovery.
