When asked re tactics, Rdr said told to put gelding into race if an opportunity arose, adding whilst left rearward trailing position & went forward & put gelding into race earlier than planned, thought this would not be disadvantageous given ridden similar in past. Tnr instructs were to be forward if possible as gelding is one-paced, adding surprised when horse was ridden forward as early as it was. Stewards advised Rdr should have permitted mount to maintain position with cover early.

Collett stated that it wasn’t her intention to settle so far forward, however, the filly raced fresh resulting in her settling in a forward position outside the leader. She further added that due to racing keenly KAHLISEE failed to finish off the race as expected and proved somewhat disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in its near hind leg.

When asked to comment, Rdr stated gelding did not begin well and after being caught wide, elected to allow mount to stride however noted the gelding was inclined to lay in throughout which had an effect on its finishing effort. A post race vet exam revealed the thumps.

Rdr stated mount began well & travelled strongly in handy position in early stages. Rdr stated mount failed to sprint on straightening & and disapp to line. Rdr stated mounts pre race manners may have been detriment to finishing effort & added it was obliged to race near fence which he believed was now inferior. Tnr agreed & added gelding is suspect over 1400m. To be spelled. P/R vet no ab's.

Rdr quest re tactics, in particular ride round h/turn where it appeared there was an opportunity to improve to outside, which would have availed clear run in h/straight. Rdr said considered improving to outside approaching 400m however, elected to hold line, as felt would be able to secure inside run entering h/straight-added surprised outside runner didn’t give ground in h/straight as anticipated, resulting in mount being held up until after 200m. Rdr conceded better option available.
