Apprentice Johnson further stated that she attempted to take a narrow run on the inside of FAIRYBOWER FLYER but was unable to fully test her mount in the early stages of the straight.

Jockey R Wiggins reported, after beginning well from the inside barrier the mare did not have to endure any work and therefore elected to maintain the lead as he was of the view that runners on his outside were not travelling as well as his own mount. The rider further reported that once placed under pressure rounding the home turn his mount battled moderately until leaving the 200m mark.

After considering evidence provided by jockeys, the available replays and the stewards own observations, it was determined that Apprentice Kendal, on VANA STAR, had elected to restrain to trail CANNY BE BETTER and when doing so TOP SPY had shifted in towards a three wide position. Simultaneous to VANA STAR shifting inwards behind CANNY BE BETTER, VANA STAR clipped heels and dislodged the rider. A post-race vet exam revealed no abnormalities.
