Greyt Start  Began very awkwardly, made contact with the outside barrier gate and then shifted in abruptly, making heavy contact with SUGAR CITY, resulting in the rider becoming unbalanced. In this incident, GREYT START lost significant ground. Furthermore, on returning to scale apprentice H. Invincibella  Overraced in middle stages and approaching 600m steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. Rider reported held up rounding home turn and near 300m, observed runner forward of him shifting out so tried to improve to its inside, however that runner held its position causing him to check his mount when dissapointed for that run. Then held up for some distance before shifting out to improve approaching the 100m but was again dissapointed for a run and did not obtain clear running until passing the 50m.  Canterbury Park  25/05/2016 
Lady Solerno  Inquiry re improved performance. Trainer R. Cameron said at the horse's first start this preparation he was pleased with its performance, but was held up over the final stages. He said in a quality race at its most recent start it performed satisfactorily, but weakened at the finish, and after this he elected to experiment with a tongue-tie, and was of the view that this may have been beneficial for the horse's finishing effort. Apprentice A. Denby was fined $100 for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Steel Zip  Apprentice S. Fawke advised his mount travelled well however did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure and may not have handled the track conditions today. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was not striding out in front. Trainer P. Duff advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell.

Astronomos (GB)  A post race veterinary examination revealed a mild case of the thumps. Trainer D. Vandyke advised stewards that ASTRONOMOS sustained two black eyes Sunday morning. He suspects that it occurred during the running of the race and would explain the disappointing performance. He further advised that the gelding had pulled up fine in all other aspects and would continue with current preparation and head to the Brisbane Cup, 2400m. Questioned re: tactics - particularly passing the 800m - Rider stated horse wasn't suited by slow tempo and was racing in restricted room to the inside of All Out of Love. From 600m he endeavoured to angle out to obtain an uninterrupted run in the home straight intead of improving on the fence behind the leader which he believed was unlikely to take him into the race.  Flemington  21/05/2016

Hooked  J. Byrne stated that at the 1000m his intentions were to race to the outside of FELL SWOOP, and when FELL SWOOP was crossed by TWO BLUE he elected to move forward to ensure that FELL SWOOP did not improve and force him wider on the track, however after being bumped by FELL SWOOP passing the 800m, his mount was unable to be restrained and for that reason was forced to race three wide without cover.J. Byrne was advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to take hold of his mount to allow the horse the opportunity to finish the race off to the best of its ability.  Doomben  28/05/2016

Falkenberg  Stewards considered an application from jockey that FALKENBURG was denied a fair start due to it having its off hindleg on the barrier partition prior to the start being effected. After taking evidence stewards denied the request as they were of the view that the horse's barrier manners was the reason why the horse missed the start. Inconvenienced 1600m.
