Cartwright reported to stewards that in hindsight the slow tempo of the event had a detrimental effect on her mounts overall performance as after gaining a favourable position behind the lead in the early stages of the race, the gelding over-raced when the pace slackened passing the winning post on the first occasion. Trainer P. Butterworth reported that the gelding returned to scale with minor lacerations to the near fore leg and both hind legs.

Rider stated his mount was under pressure to hold its position from the 700m and was disappointing in its run to the line. Rider stated his mount raced like a tired horse. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to be tying up.

Jockey stated his mount failed to let down strongly in the straight and continued to lay out for the remainder of the event. P/R vet revealed lame n/f (1/5) & speedy cuts to hind fetlocks. Vet clearance required PTNS.

When questioned regarding leading the event today rider stated that from a wide barrier he had anticipated settling with cover however he was mindful that on form there appeared to be little speed in the race. Rider stated that his mount began well and he elected to allow it to stride forward and lead rather than restrain it and risk being caught wide or settling back behind a slow tempo.

Near the 250m was disappointed for a run GOLD N GLAMAROUS and CONFIRM NOT DENY obliging its rider to shift out to secure clear running. At the finishing line was steadied when racing to the inside of THE BRONX BULL which shifted in. Jockey A Allen reported at scale that his horse raced greenly throughout the event.

COT: settle further forward, led. Laid out over the final 1000m. Questioned re vigour final stages rider stated that his mount laid out final 1000m. Adding app finish Kaytee Reinado, which was racing forward and to the outside of his mount, commenced to shift in. Adding that although there was sufficient room to continue riding he anticipated Kaytee Reinado continuing to shift in whilst his mount continued to lay out & was hesitant to continue improving into that running. Adding this scenario came to fruition passing the winning post and he was obliged to steady across heels. Vet no abs.

Apprentice Lang added when SHINSHINTO moved to a three wide position approaching the 800m, her mount was carried wider and remained in this position for the remainder of the race and consequently weakened in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
