As jockey B. Thornton was not riding due to illness, he was replaced by jockey S. Collett. On return to scale, the gelding was found to have bled from both nostrils. Stewards advised trainer M. Wilson that as this was the first occasion that this had occurred, under the provisions of AR79(4), THE KHAN would be suspended from racing for three months and must undergo a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again.
