Gelding commenced to overrace so elected to push forward and settle outside of leader at which point gelding got its tongue over the bit and race fiercely and proved difficult to ride. Noted gelding woulde benefit with addition of tongue tie. Stable rep confirmed tongue tie would be added. |

Rider reported after blundering badly at the start he attempted to restrain his mount towards the rear of the field but when the pace steadied after passing the 900m it would not settle so he elected to ride forward in an attempt to cross CUBAN PRINCESS in the middle stages. Rider added however that PARLIAMENT HOUSE hung out badly which prevented him from clearing that runner. |

Trainer expressed dissapointment in performance and reported it had pulled up well following the event. Thought slow early tempo and sprint home did not suit gelding's style of racing. Vet exam - no abnormalities. |

Jockey Taylor was of the view that the gelding would derive a fitness benefit from today after resuming from a spell. Apprentice S. Eilbeck reported at scale her mount was inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer G. Cousins advised that following its last start on 21 December 2014 he felt the horse was immature and as a result spelled the mare. He added that today it was having its first race start for 11 months and attributed this to the improved performance.

Miss Harrison indicated that as horse previously had a tendency to begin poorly, pre-race discussions were had with trainer W. Hulbert and formed the view the horse would be positioned in the second half of the field with cover. However, when it began well she elected to push forward being aware that there was limited speed in the race. Trainer W. Hulbert confirmed they had not expected the horse to lead. |
