Questioned re performance, Jockey stated mare over-raced in early stages as a result of BIG MAMA racing strongly to his outside. Passing 1600m when BIG MAMA pressed forward of him that horse made contact with his mount resulting in it continuing to over-race for some distance. Thought mare was galloped on rounding home turn. Whilst disappointed in performance, mare’s racing manners had a detrimental effect on its performance. Post-race vet - no abs.

Had to be steadied from heels rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the horse’s above market expectation performance, trainer B. Dowden indicated that as he has only had the horse for three runs prior to today, he has been satisfied with the way in which the horse has been performing, given that he believes the horse is not suited to racing over 1200m. He advised that he felt that a step up in distance would be appreciated and he also advised that the horse would improve further when stepped up to 1600m. He indicated that he was not surprised by the forward showing today.
