When questioned as to the tactics adopted, Jockey L Rolls stated that the gelding was slow to begin which resulted in him settling further back than anticipated. Jockey Rolls added that leaving the 800m he elected to shift out to improve as he was concerned that runners forward of him were not going to take him into the race. Jockey Rolls further added that in making this decision he was also mindful of his instructions that the gelding was not suited when asked to sprint quickly off a slow tempo.

Jockey Day added that he advised connections that the colt would be better suited without blinkers. Trainer D Scanes advised that he will experiment with the removal of blinkers and addition of winkers and will endeavor to have the horse ridden in a rearward position with cover.

Near the 700m ran out abruptly and made contact with another runner. Rounding the home turn was inclined to lay out slightly. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to be suffering from degenerative joint disease and to be slightly lame in its action. Trainer Ms C Halliday advised that the gelding would be treated accordingly in the comings days. Further Ms C Halliday was advised that the gelding would be undergo a pre race veterinary examination prior it its next start.

When the pace slackened passing the 900m was forced wider on the track until approaching the 700m. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice A. Sewell indicated that after passing the 900m the gelding commenced to overrace and refused to settle and also had a tendency to lay out. He added that these factors, along with the horse failing to run out a strong 1400m, affected the overall performance. Trainer S. Kendrick agreed with the comments of apprentice Sewell and advised that the horse would now be sent for a short break and would be placed in races over shorter distances. A post
