Race 2
Sweet Shamrock Slow to begin. Forced to race wide rounding the home turn. When questioned as to the tactics adopted, Jockey L Rolls stated that the gelding was slow to begin which resulted in him settling further back than anticipated. Jockey Rolls added that leaving the 800m he elected to shift out to improve as he was concerned that runners forward of him were not going to take him into the race. Jockey Rolls further added that in making this decision he was also mindful of his instructions that the gelding was not suited when asked to sprint quickly off a slow tempo. Gold Coast 01/11/2016

Barbara of Seville slow to begin. When questioned regarding tactics in the early stages rider P Romeo stated instructions were to not pressure the mare early and come with one run from the 600 metres. Stewards noted the explanation Beaudesert 29/10/2016
Men Only Passing the winning post on the first occasion when racing keenly was restrained when awkwardly placed close to heels. Throughout the middles stages raced wide without cover. Tabulam 05/11/2016

Lighthouse Keeper Inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages. Unable to improve when held up on heels rounding the home turn. Shifted out and bumped another runner on two occasions at the entrance to the straight. Near the 300m was severely unbalanced after shifting out and bumping heavily with another runner. Gold Reserve Bumped shortly after the start. Gold Coast 19/10/2016
Mogul Jockey N Day reported that from the wide barrier the colt refused to settle despite his efforts and as a consequence he was unable to obtain cover and was forced to race 4 wide throughout. Jockey Day added that he advised connections that the colt would be better suited without blinkers. Trainer D Scanes advised that he will experiment with the removal of blinkers and addition of winkers and will endeavor to have the horse ridden in a rearward position with cover. Baggins Raced greenly for a short distance passing the 600m and again in the home straight. Raced wide throughout without cover. Ipswich 21/10/2016
Invinciboy Slow to begin (2L). Approaching and rounding the home turn was held up for clear running and unable to improve. Near the 300m was disappointed when attempting to obtain a narrow run between Queen Carley and Moogem and as results was steadied and shifted out to continue forward. Ballina 08/08/2016
Natural Black Jumped awkwardly and bumped another runner. Raced wide throughout. Sunshine Coast 23/10/2016

Sugar Ray Red Raced greenly in the early stages and near the 1000m shifted in and bumped BALABINA and as a consequence then became unbalanced and continued to race greenly for the majority of the event. Gold Coast 28/05/2016

Thomas the Tank Hung out near the 700m and then continued to hang out for the remainder of the event, proving difficult to ride. A warning was placed on the horse's racing manners. Ipswich 03/11/2016

Miniver Apprentice B. Ainsworth was fined $200 for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. Gatton 06/09/2016
Forward Speed Slow to begin. Difficulty obtaining clear running upon straightening. Approaching 200m disappointed for a run. Gold Coast 26/03/2016
Madame de Ban Raced wide throughout. Became unbalanced when bumped by another runner after leaving the 400m. Sunshine Coast 02/07/2016
Luxury Slow to begin. Ran wide rounding the home turn. When questioned re performance of the mare trainer stated he was pleased with the mares run appreciating it settled at the rear of the field which ran its final 600m in 33.19s. A post race vet exam of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. Grafton 25/10/2016
All That Is Had to be steadied away from heels passing the 1000m. Had to be steadied to avoid heels inside the 100m. Eagle Farm 22/10/2016
Boyd St Hawk Near the 700m ran out abruptly and made contact with another runner. Rounding the home turn was inclined to lay out slightly. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to be suffering from degenerative joint disease and to be slightly lame in its action. Trainer Ms C Halliday advised that the gelding would be treated accordingly in the comings days. Further Ms C Halliday was advised that the gelding would be undergo a pre race veterinary examination prior it its next start. Grafton 02/11/2016

Military Miss Slow into stride. D. Browne advised that the mare was slow into stride and despite his urgings was reluctant to muster early speed and travelled only fairly throughout the run and when following the winner rounding the home turn it was unable to quicken despite his efforts and in the straight only finished the race off fairly. Fast Trick When the pace slackened passing the 900m was forced wider on the track until approaching the 700m. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice A. Sewell indicated that after passing the 900m the gelding commenced to overrace and refused to settle and also had a tendency to lay out. He added that these factors, along with the horse failing to run out a strong 1400m, affected the overall performance. Trainer S. Kendrick agreed with the comments of apprentice Sewell and advised that the horse would now be sent for a short break and would be placed in races over shorter distances.
