Kuttamurra Al Stewards questioned R. Stewart regarding the tactics adopted, as the horse settled in a position just behind the lead, which is in contrast to its established racing pattern. He indicated that his intention and instructions had been to attempt to settle in a midfield position with cover. He indicated that whilst caught in a wide position during the early stages he elected to allow his mount to stride forward when he saw an opportunity to settle behind the lead. Trainer R. Roman Senator Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of event. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, App. M Schrapel expressed his disappointment in the performance and said that the gelding travelled well throughout, however, failed to respond when placed under pressure. He added that in his opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its current preparation. French Descent Began awkwardly. Passing the 300m had to be steadied away from heels and shifted wider on the track to improve. Ipswich 24/05/2017
Madam Mahal Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice M. Schrapel stated that after losing ground at the start and racing wide, the mare finished the race off well and will take benefit from today’s event. Toowoomba 20/05/2017

Turquoise Near 900m steadied from the heels of NO MORE HEIGHTS and lost ground. Near 700m steadied when awkwardly placed at heels of NO MORE HEIGHTS. Upon straightening steadied from heels of ARGENT ETOILE. Rider questioned re disappointing performance - stated after suffering interference near 900m filly failed to race tractably at any stage thereafter. Vetted - no abnormalities. Gold Coast 17/05/2017
Irish Vice Jumped away awkwardly. When questioned, J. Lloyd stated that his instructions were to have the filly positioned in the first three, however after beginning awkwardly he was further back in the field than intended. He added that he was then forced to race three wide without cover, however the filly was under pressure from the 600m and did not respond to his riding. Mr Epic Had to be checked near the 350m when tightened for room between BERRY DELICIOUS, which shifted out slightly, and CYLINDER BEACH, which laid in. Eagle Farm 31/12/2016
Abu Ben Adam Jockey S. Bogenhuber reported her mount was not comfortable in the rain affected conditions. Trainer P. Duff reported that the horse was found to have suffered a laceration to the inside of the off hind leg consistent with having been galloped on. Sunshine Coast 21/05/2017

Destiva When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, J. Byrne stated that after having a favourable run, the horse was then shifted out near the 400m to improve into the race, however failed to respond and was disappointing. He added that the gelding may be better suited on a firmer surface than that of today. Trainer B. Ahrens advised that he felt that the horse does not handle rain-affected conditions and has previously not raced well at this venue.
