The gelding lost its off-hind plate in the pre-parade area and was subsequently replated. Slow to begin and then was bumped. Rdr reported his mnt settled back and soon became detached from the field, and despite being niggled along from the 800m it did not give any response and remained detached from the field until making the home turn whereby it began to take closer order to the field. He said when ridden out in the straight his mnt took some time to respond and finished well over the concluding stages.

When questioned re settling further back in the field, rdr stated his instructions were to ensure he found cover in the early stages. He said after travelling a short distance, he was racing to the outside of a rnr which he anticipated would hold a forward position, so he elected to shift in behind that rnr to conform to instructions, however when it settled midfield and did not occupy as prominent a position as anticipated, this resulted in his mnt also being positioned further back in the field as a consequence.
