Bribe the Witness – Rider questioned regarding performance – refer full report. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr G Portelli was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse in regards to its barrier manners. Nowra 26/02/2017
Miss Lazaretto Attempted to buck shortly after the start. Trainer S. Mcewan was advised that the filly must obtain a barrier certificate prior to racing again. Nanango 13/08/2016
Thing of Beauty Laid out for a short distance leaving the 900m. When questioned regarding the performance, which was below market expectations, jockey L. Tilley agreed the performance was disappointing but could offer no explanation other than the filly was having her first run following a spell, and in his opinion would derive a fitness benefit from this event. Man Overboard Jockey W. O’Connell pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that shortly after the start he allowed his mount to shift in under pressure when insufficiently clear of RALPH THE DRAGON, which was severely tightened for room and forced in, resulting in JAI’S LUCK also being tightened for room and having to be checked. Jockey W. O’Connell’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days, to commence at midnight, 25 March and to expire at midnight, 5 April 2017. Gatton 21/03/2017

Close Enough Hung out for the entire race, placing its rider at a disadvantage in riding his mount to the finish. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer W. Payne advised he would now send the horse for a spell. Stewards informed advised Mr Payne that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. Baja Boy Steadied to avoid heels for a considerable distance approaching the winning post on the first occasion. Dalby 16/08/2014

Commander Boltz Finished tailed off. Trainer K. Bolton advised the gelding was having its first start following a significant spell and was better suited to races over more distance than today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Chinchilla 04/03/2017
