He added that he had anticipated his mount settling towards the rea of the field however, after his mount began well he rode the gelding along in the early stages and when he observed no other runner showing superior speed, he allowed his mount to obtain a position in the lead.

When asked to comment on the performance, jockey A Allen stated the horse raced comfortably outside leader until placed under pressure near 800m however failed to respond to his riding from that point onwards. Jockey Allen added that in his opinion the mare may not have backed up from its most recent start on the 3rd of June and that the step up in distance to 2000m may have also had an effect on the performance of RED HOT RUBIX. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils.

When questioned app explained that her mount raced keenly during the early stages of the event and near the 1600m, as she was not comfortable with the slow tempo she directed mnt out to improve however was left racing in three wide position without cover. Added mnt commenced to lose ground near 600m and was disappointing. Post-race vet exam revealed slow recovery. Must barrier trial to satisfaction of stewards.
