On returning to the enclosure it was noted that the mare had bled from one nostril. After being examined by the veterinary surgeon, who confirmed that it had only bled from one nostril, trainer Mr Tony Hess was advised that the horse would be ineligible to race until it gallops over 1000m in the presence of a steward and to their satisfaction. Apprentice rider J Hodge dropped his whip approaching the winning post
