Cupid's Affair Shifted wider on the track shortly after beginning awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn. Commenced to weaken passing the 200m and was steadied to avoid the heels of TONY’S DECREE which shifted in after being bumped by IN YOUR ELEMENT, which was hanging in. Jockey N. Tomizawa reported that in his opinion the gelding raced somewhat flat today as it may not have backed up from its last start 2nd placing at Toowoomba on 16 September 2018. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Toowoomba 23/09/2018
Sasia Improved on to heels after passing the 800m and had to be steadied. Shifted out and made heavy contact with another runner when attempting to secure clear running approaching the 400m, became unbalanced and was then shortly thereafter obliged to be checked to avoid heels. Bled from both nostrils during the event. The filly will now be ineligible to start for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward. It's Not an Issue Trainer D. Heinemann was questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance. He indicated that the horse, in his opinion, raced well at its last start at the Sunshine Coast as it was only beaten 5 lengths. He added that at its most recent start at Gympie the horse received severe interference during the early stages and had to be checked and this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance. He further added that he had expected a more forward showing tonight, however was somewhat surprised with the horse’s win. Sunshine Coast 28/09/2018
