In the vicinity of the 50m, contacted the hindquarters of ZA ZA READY who shifted out, as FLAMING ASTEROID simultaneously laid in and as a result SCARLET DESIRE had to be checked and subsequently clipped the heels of ZA ZA READY and blundered. Jockey G. Kliese the rider of ZA ZA READY pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a). A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer Mr J. Manzelmann was advised that SCARLET DESIRE will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Approaching the 1000m had to be checked from the heels of LOUD NOISE when tightened for racing room between THERESABEARINTHERE which made the turn awkwardly and shifted out, and LOUD NOISE which shifted in marginally. Leaving the 300m had difficulty securing clear running when awkwardly placed at the heels of HARD STRIDE.

Orman stated his mount was over racing throughout and failed to finish the race off. A post – race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L. Manzelmann advised Stewards the gelding will be going for a short freshen up. Mr Manzelmann was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for poor performance.
