Commenced to over-race near the 1200 metres. Improved onto the heels of another runner soon after and continued to race fiercely, before improving into an extremely narrow run placing a runner to its inside in restricted room. When questioned by App. Jockey advised that despite her best efforts she had been unable to restrain the gelding in the early and middle stages. Trainer was instructed by Stewards that he will be required to employ the services of a senior rider at future starts.

We Found It |
Stewards considered an objection lodged by second placegetter against the gelding, alleging interference over the final stages. On the evidence it was established that inside the final 30 metres gelding shifted out under riding and bumped the second placegetter carrying it wider. Bearing in mind the manner in which both horses ran to the finish, and the margin of a nose between them at the finish, stewards were comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred second placegetter would have finished ahead of the gelding. Accordingly the protest was upheld and the placings amended. |
