Race 4
Campo Serrano Shortly after the start was bumped heavily. When questioned re the performance, rider stated that he attempted to settle in a handy position, however after his mount suffered interference shortly after the start he was forced to settle further back in the field then intended. He added his mount never to travel comfortably at any stage and failed to respond strongly in its efforts to the line. A post-race vet exam revealed no abnormalities. Trainer explained the gelding was disadvantaged from not being able to settle further forward in the event and given it was the gelding’s second start he wa Grafton 20/11/2016

Schemel Slow to begin. Questioned re performance stated after beginning slowly was obliged to pressure mare in effort to take up customary forward position. Noted instructions were to obtain handy position with cover however, when 3 wide passing 1200m continued to ride forward to eventually settle outside leader. Expressed disappointment in performance, which may have been as a result of pressure applied in early stages. Vetted - no abnormalities. Gold Coast 03/12/2016

Omission Approaching the first turn raced fiercely and was restrained and shifted out to avoid heels. Ballina 10/12/2016

Our Grand Finale In the presence of Jockey advocate Mr G Smith, stewards questioned App A Van Der Sanden regarding tactics to race 4 wide for the majority of the race. She stated that after beginning well from the wide draw and being caught 4 deep rounding the 1500 metre turn she initially considered restraining her mount to a trailing position, however OUR GRANDE FINALE soon after commenced to race keenly and as a result remained racing in a 4 deep position for a major portion of the race. After viewing the DVD replay App Van Der Sanden agreed she had erred in not allowing her mount to improve forward into a Esk 17/12/2016
