Stable representative Mr A. Homan was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance. He indicated that the stable had expected a forward showing in today’s event, adding the mare had had a brief spell after performing poorly in Townsville on 21 July, which he believed could be attributed to the horse not travelling well in the trip to Townsville. He indicated prior to this, the horse’s form had been good and stated that at Doomben on 7 July the horse had worked hard when ridden forward to obtain the lead in the early stages from a wide barrier. Stewards accepted the explanation.

Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. When questioned as to the tactics adopted in the middle stages, apprentice L. As a consequence she was obliged to steady the gelding passing the 400m when placed in restricted room to the inside of ROUND MOUNTAIN. Stewards accepted the explanation.

When questioned by Stewards regarding the improved performance, Trainer Mr. D. Groves explained that when the mare overraced two starts ago at Ipswich the rider had recommended the removal of the blinkers for its next start, which he did, however the horse did not perform well at Toowoomba on that occasion without that gear. Mr. Groves added that with the blinkers back on today, as well as the change of rider, he had not been overly surprised with the win which was consistent with the mare’s runs prior to its last start at Toowoomba. Stewards accepted the explanation.
