When questioned regarding the disappointing performance app H English stated the gelding travelled comfortably just off the speed in the early and middle stages of the event, however when placed under pressure in the home straight, did not respond to her riding, and in her opinion was disappointing. Trainer P Sexton was of the opinion WINNER WIMMER is better suited to races over a longer distance. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
